The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3200
Yazid ibn Hurmuz said: Once, Najdah ibn Amir wrote a letter to Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, and asked some questions. I was present when Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, was reading his letter and writing its reply. . . . . . Then the narrator mentioned the entire hadith and in the end he said: You asked whether the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, killed any child of the polytheists? So remember! The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not kill any of their children, and you should not kill anyone either. Yes! If you also come to know about a child like the Prophet Khidr, peace be upon him, came to know about the child whom he killed, then it is a different matter (and this is not possible for you).

یزید بن ہرمز کہتے ہیں: ایک مرتبہ نجدہ بن عامر نے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے خط لکھ کر چند سوالات پوچھے، جس وقت سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما اس کا خط پڑھ کر اس کا جواب لکھ رہے تھے، میں وہاں موجود تھا . . . . . پھر راوی نے مکمل حدیث ذکر کی اور آخر میں یہ کہا: آپ نے پوچھا ہے کہ کیا نبی ﷺ نے مشرکین کے کسی بچے کو قتل کیا ہے؟ تو یاد رکھئے! نبی ﷺ نے ان میں سے کسی کے بچے کو قتل نہیں کیا اور آپ بھی کسی کو قتل نہ کریں، ہاں! اگر آپ کو بھی اسی طرح کسی بچے کے بارے پتہ چل جائے جیسے حضرت خضر علیہ السلام کو اس بچے کے بارے پتہ چل گیا تھا جسے انہوں نے مار دیا تھا تو بات جدا ہے (اور یہ تمہارے لئے ممکن نہیں ہے)۔
Yazid bin Harmuz kahte hain: Aik martaba Najda bin Aamir ne Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se khat likh kar chand sawalat pooche, jis waqt Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a uska khat parh kar uska jawab likh rahe the, main wahan mojood tha . . . . . phir raavi ne mukammal hadees zikr ki aur akhir mein ye kaha: Aap ne poocha hai ki kya Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mushrikeen ke kisi bache ko qatl kiya hai? To yaad rakhiye! Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne in mein se kisi ke bache ko qatl nahin kiya aur aap bhi kisi ko qatl na karen, haan! Agar aap ko bhi isi tarah kisi bache ke bare pata chal jaye jaise Hazrat Khadr alaihissalam ko is bache ke bare pata chal gaya tha jise unhon ne maar diya tha to baat juda hai (aur ye tumhare liye mumkin nahin hai).
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ ، قَالَ: كَتَبَ نَجْدَةُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ، فَشَهِدْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ حِينَ قَرَأَ كِتَابَهُ، وَحِينَ كَتَبَ جَوَابَهُ، فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ إِنَّكَ سَأَلْتَنِي... وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، قَالَ: وَسَأَلْتَ:" هَلْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْتُلُ مِنْ صِبْيَانِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ أَحَدًا، وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَقْتُلُ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدًا"، وَأَنْتَ فَلَا تَقْتُلْ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدًا، إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ تَعْلَمُ مِنْهُمْ مَا عَلِمَ الْخَضِرُ مِنَ الْغُلَامِ حِينَ قَتَلَهُ.
