The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3251
Narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), in the explanation of the Quranic verse: “And [remember, O Muhammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you…” (Al-Anfal: 30), that one night, the Quraysh gathered in Makkah al-Mukarramah and conspired. Some suggested that they should imprison the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in chains in the morning, some proposed to kill him, while others advised to expel him from Makkah. Allah, the Exalted, informed the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) of their plot. Thus, on that night, Sayyiduna ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) slept on the Prophet’s bed, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) left for prayer. The polytheists kept guarding Sayyiduna ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) throughout the night, thinking it was the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and launched their attack in the morning. However, they found Sayyiduna ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) there. Thus, Allah turned their plot against them. They inquired, “Where is your companion?” Sayyiduna ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) responded, “I don’t know.” They then set out, following the footprints of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When they reached the mountain, they became confused. They ascended the mountain and even passed by the cave (where the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had sought refuge). However, they noticed a spider web at the entrance of the cave. Upon seeing this, they remarked, "If he had been here, there wouldn't be a spider web at the cave's entrance." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remained in that cave for three days.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے آیت قرآنی: «﴿وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا﴾ [الأنفال: 30] » ”اور جب وہ لوگ جنھوں نے کفر کیا، تمہارے خلاف خفیہ تدبیریں کر رہے تھے،“ کی تفسیر میں منقول ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ رات کے وقت قریش نے مکہ مکرمہ میں باہم مشورہ کیا، بعض نے کہا کہ صبح ہوتے ہی محمد ﷺ کو بیڑیوں میں جکڑ دو، بعض نے کہا کہ قتل کردو، اور بعض نے انہیں نکال دینے کا مشورہ دیا، اللہ تعالیٰ نے نبی ﷺ کو مشرکین کی اس مشاورت کی اطلاع دے دی۔ چنانچہ اس رات نبی ﷺ کے بستر پر سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ سو گئے اور نبی ﷺ وہاں سے نکل کر نماز میں چلے گئے، مشرکین ساری رات سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو نبی ﷺ سمجھتے ہوئے پہرہ داری کرتے رہے اور صبح ہوتے ہی انہوں نے ہلہ بول دیا، لیکن دیکھا تو وہاں سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ تھے، اس طرح اللہ نے ان کے مکر کو ان پر لوٹا دیا، وہ کہنے لگے کہ تمہارے ساتھی کہاں ہیں؟ سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا: مجھے نہیں پتہ، پھر وہ نبی ﷺ کے نشانات قدم تلاش کرتے ہوئے نکلے، جب وہ اس پہاڑ پر پہنچے تو انہیں التباس ہو گیا، وہ پہاڑ پر بھی چڑھے اور اسی غار کے پاس سے بھی گزرے (جہاں نبی ﷺ پناہ گزین تھے)، لیکن انہیں غار کے دہانے پر مکڑی کا جالا دکھائی دیا، جسے دیکھ کر وہ کہنے لگے کہ اگر وہ یہاں ہوتے تو اس غار کے دہانے پر مکڑی کا جالا نہ ہوتا، نبی ﷺ اس غار میں تین دن ٹھہرے رہے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se aayat qurani: «﴿وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا﴾ [الأنفال: 30] » ”aur jab wo log jinhon ne kufr kiya, tumhare khilaf khafi tadbiren kar rahe the,“ ki tafseer mein manqool hai ki ek martaba raat ke waqt quraish ne makkah mukarma mein baham mashwara kiya, baz ne kaha ki subah hote hi muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko bediyon mein jakad do, baz ne kaha ki qatl kardo, aur baz ne unhen nikal dene ka mashwara diya, allah taala ne nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko mushrikin ki is mashwarat ki ittila de di. chunancha is raat nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke bistar par sayyidna ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) so gaye aur nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) wahan se nikal kar namaz mein chale gaye, mushrikin sari raat sayyidna ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) samajhte hue pehra dari karte rahe aur subah hote hi unhon ne halah bol diya, lekin dekha to wahan sayyidna ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) the, is tarah allah ne un ke makr ko un par lauta diya, wo kahne lage ki tumhare sathi kahan hain? sayyidna ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne farmaya: mujhe nahin pata, phir wo nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke nishanat qadam talash karte hue nikle, jab wo is pahar par pahunche to unhen iltebas ho gaya, wo pahar par bhi chadhe aur isi ghar ke paas se bhi guzre (jahan nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) panah guzin the), lekin unhen ghar ke dahane par makdi ka jala dikhayi diya, jise dekh kar wo kahne lage ki agar wo yahan hote to is ghar ke dahane par makdi ka jala na hota, nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is ghar mein teen din thehre rahe.
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، قَالَ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي عُثْمَانُ الْجَزَرِيُّ ، أَنَّ مِقْسَمًا مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِيُثْبِتُوكَ سورة الأنفال آية 30، قَالَ: تَشَاوَرَتْ قُرَيْشٌ لَيْلَةً بِمَكَّةَ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: إِذَا أَصْبَحَ، فَأَثْبِتُوهُ بِالْوَثَاقِ. يُرِيدُونَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: بَلْ اقْتُلُوهُ. وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: بَلْ أَخْرِجُوهُ. فَأَطْلَعَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ نَبِيَّهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ، فَبَاتَ عَلِيٌّ عَلَى فِرَاشِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، وَخَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى لَحِقَ بِالْغَارِ، وَبَاتَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَحْرُسُونَ عَلِيًّا، يَحْسَبُونَهُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحُوا ثَارُوا إِلَيْهِ، فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا عَلِيًّا، رَدَّ اللَّهُ مَكْرَهُمْ، فَقَالُوا: أَيْنَ صَاحِبُكَ هَذَا؟ قَالَ:" لَا أَدْرِي". فَاقْتَصُّوا أَثَرَهُ، فَلَمَّا بَلَغُوا الْجَبَلَ خُلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَصَعِدُوا فِي الْجَبَلِ، فَمَرُّوا بِالْغَارِ، فَرَأَوْا عَلَى بَابِهِ نَسْجَ الْعَنْكَبُوتِ، فَقَالُوا: لَوْ دَخَلَ هَاهُنَا، لَمْ يَكُنْ نَسْجُ الْعَنْكَبُوتِ عَلَى بَابِهِ، فَمَكَثَ فِيهِ ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ.
