The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3259
Ata bin Abi Rabah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that we were present with Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) at a place called Saraf for the funeral of Umm al-Mu'minin Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "This is Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). When you lift her bier, do not move it hastily or shake it, for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had nine wives, of whom he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would visit eight in turn (Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) being one of them) and one wife would not be included in the rotation (with her permission and consent)." Ata said that the wife who was not included in the rotation was Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her). (However, according to the opinion of the majority of scholars, she was Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with her), and Allah knows best).

عطاء بن ابی رباح رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم لوگ سرف نامی مقام پر ام المومنین سیدہ میمونہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے جنازے میں سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کے ساتھ موجود تھے، سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما فرمانے لگے: یہ سیدہ میمونہ رضی اللہ عنہا ہیں، جب تم ان کا جنازہ اٹھاؤ تو چارپائی کو تیزی سے حرکت نہ دینا اور نہ ہی اسے ہلانا، کیونکہ نبی ﷺ کی نو ازواج مطہرات تھیں، جن میں سے آپ ﷺ آٹھ کو باری دیا کرتے (ان میں سیدہ میمونہ رضی اللہ عنہا بھی شامل تھیں) اور ایک زوجہ کو (ان کی اجازت اور مرضی کے مطابق) باری نہیں ملتی تھی۔ عطاء کہتے ہیں کہ جس زوجہ محترمہ کی باری مقرر نہیں تھی، وہ سیدہ صفیہ رضی اللہ عنہا تھیں۔ (لیکن جمہور محققین کی رائے کے مطابق وہ سیدہ سودہ رضی اللہ عنہا تھیں، واللہ اعلم)۔
Ata bin Abi Rabah rehmatullahi alaih kehte hain ke hum log Saraf naami maqam par Ummul Momineen Sayyidah Maimoonah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ke janaze mein Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ke sath maujood thay, Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a farmane lage: Yeh Sayyidah Maimoonah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) hain, jab tum inka janaza uthao to charpai ko tezi se harkat na dena aur na hi ise hilana, kyunki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki nau azwaj e mutahharat thin, jin mein se aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) aath ko baari diya karte (in mein Sayyidah Maimoonah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) bhi shamil thin) aur ek zaujah ko (unki ijazat aur marzi ke mutabiq) baari nahin milti thi. Ata kehte hain ke jis zaujah e muhtarama ki baari muqarrar nahin thi, woh Sayyidah Safiyyah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) thin. (Lekin jumhoor muhaqqiqeen ki rae ke mutabiq woh Sayyidah Saudah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) thin, wallahu alam).
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْر ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ ، قَالَ: حَضَرْنَا مَعَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ جَنَازَةَ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِسَرِفَ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ :" هَذِهِ زَوْجَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَإِذَا رَفَعْتُمْ نَعْشَهَا، فَلَا تُزَعْزِعُوا بها، وَلَا تُزَلْزِلُوا، وَارْفُقُوا، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْسِمُ لِثَمَانٍ، وَلَا يَقْسِمُ لِوَاحِدَةٍ". قَالَ عَطَاءٌ الَّتِي لَا يَقْسِمُ لَهَا صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيِّ بْنِ أَخْطَبَ.
