The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3317
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we traveled with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) between Makkah and Madinah. At that time we were in a state of peace, there was absolutely no fear of anything, but even then, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed two rak'ahs (shortened) until we returned.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ ہم نے نبی ﷺ کے ہمراہ مکہ اور مدینہ کے درمیان سفر کیا، اس وقت ہم حالت امن میں تھے، کسی چیز کا قطعا کوئی خوف نہ تھا، لیکن پھر بھی آپ ﷺ نے واپس لوٹنے تک دو دو رکعتیں کر کے نماز پڑھی (قصر فرمائی)۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas Radi Allaho Anhuma se marvi hai ki ek martaba hum ne Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ke hamrah Makkah aur Madina ke darmiyan safar kiya, is waqt hum halat aman mein the, kisi cheez ka qatan koi khof na tha, lekin phir bhi Aap Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne wapas lautne tak do do rakaten kar ke namaz parhi (Qasr farmai).
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" سِرْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ وَنَحْنُ آمِنُونَ لَا نَخَافُ شَيْئًا، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ".
