Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3355
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was in his final illness, he moved to the house of Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Call Ali to me.” Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: “Should I also call Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him)?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Call him.” Sayyida Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Should I also call Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Call him.” Sayyida Umm al-Fadl (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Should I also call Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him)?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Call him.” When all these people had gathered, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) raised his head and looked, but Sayyidina Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was not visible, upon which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remained silent. After a while, Sayyidina Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Now, leave the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” In the meantime, Sayyidina Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came to announce the prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer.” Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) submitted: “Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) is a soft-hearted man. When the people will not see you, they will start crying. Therefore, you should order Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) to lead the people in prayer.” However, Sayyidina Abu Bakr Siddique (may Allah be pleased with him) came out and led the people in prayer. Then, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) felt some relief in his illness, so he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out, dragging his feet on the ground with the support of two men. When Sayyidina Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) sensed the footsteps of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he intended to step back. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gestured to him and himself stood on his left side, and started reciting from where Sayyidina Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) had left off, and in the same illness, he passed away. Wakee (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyidina Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was following the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in prayer, and the people were following Sayyidina Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him).

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ جب نبی ﷺ مرض الوفات میں مبتلا ہوئے، تو وہ سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے گھر منتقل ہو گئے، ایک دن نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”میرے پاس علی کو بلاؤ“، سیدہ عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے پوچھا: سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کو بھی بلا لیں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”بلا لو“، سیدہ حفصہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے پوچھا: یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو بھی بلا لیں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”بلا لو“، سیدہ ام الفضل رضی اللہ عنہا نے پوچھا: یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ کو بھی بلا لیں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”بلا لو“، جب یہ تمام لوگ جمع ہو گئے تو نبی ﷺ نے سر اٹھا کر دیکھا لیکن سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نظر نہ آئے جس پر نبی ﷺ خاموش رہے، تھوڑی دیر بعد سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا: اب نبی ﷺ کے پاس سے اٹھ جاؤ، اتنی دیر میں سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نماز کی اطلاع دینے کے لئے حاضر ہوئے تو نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”ابوبکر سے کہو کہ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھا دیں۔“ سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے عرض کیا: سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ رقیق القلب آدمی ہیں، جب لوگ آپ کو نہیں دیکھیں گے تو رونے لگیں گے اس لئے آپ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو حکم دے دیں کہ وہ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھا دیں، بہرکیف سیدنا ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ نے باہر نکل کر لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائی، پھر آپ ﷺ کو اپنی بیماری میں کچھ تخفیف محسوس ہوئی، چنانچہ آپ ﷺ دو آدمیوں کے سہارے زمین پر پاؤں گھسیٹتے ہوئے باہر نکلے، جب سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کو نبی ﷺ کی آہٹ محسوس ہوئی تو انہوں نے پیچھے ہٹنے کا ارادہ کیا، نبی ﷺ نے انہیں اشارہ کیا اور خود ان کے پہلو میں بائیں جانب تشریف فرما ہو گئے، اور وہیں سے تلاوت شروع فرما دی جہاں سے سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے چھوڑی تھی، اور اسی مرض میں وصال فرما گئے، وکیع رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نبی ﷺ کی اقتداء کر رہے تھے اور لوگ سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کی۔
Sayyedna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) marz ul wafaat mein mubtala hue, to woh Sayyeda Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ke ghar muntaqil ho gaye, ek din Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Mere paas Ali ko bulaao“, Sayyeda Ayesha Siddiqa ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne poocha: Sayyedna Abubakar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko bhi bula len? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Bula lo“, Sayyeda Hafsa ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne poocha: Ya Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)! Sayyedna Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko bhi bula len? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Bula lo“, Sayyeda Umm ul Fazal ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne poocha: Ya Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)! Sayyedna Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko bhi bula len? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Bula lo“, jab yeh tamam log jama ho gaye to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne sar utha kar dekha lekin Sayyedna Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) nazar na aaye jis par Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) khamosh rahe, thori der baad Sayyedna Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne farmaya: Ab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke paas se uth jaao, itni der mein Sayyedna Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) namaz ki ittila dene ke liye hazir hue to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Abubakar se kaho ki logon ko namaz parrha den.“ Sayyeda Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne arz kiya: Sayyedna Abubakar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) raqiq ul qalb aadmi hain, jab log aap ko nahin dekhenge to rone lagenge is liye aap Sayyedna Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko hukum de den ki woh logon ko namaz parrha den, ba har qayal Sayyedna Abubakar Siddiq (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne bahar nikal kar logon ko namaz parrhai, phir Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko apni bimari mein kuchh takhfeef mehsoos hui, chunancha Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) do aadmiyon ke sahaare zameen par paon ghasit'te hue bahar nikle, jab Sayyedna Abubakar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki ahat mehsoos hui to unhon ne peeche hatne ka irada kiya, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhen ishara kiya aur khud un ke pahloo mein bayen janib tashreef farma ho gaye, aur wahin se tilawat shuru farma di jahan se Sayyedna Abubakar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne chori thi, aur isi marz mein wisal farma gaye, Wakee Rahmatullah Alaih kehte hain ki Sayyedna Abubakar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki iqtida kar rahe the aur log Sayyedna Abubakar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ki.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَرْقَمَ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: لَمَّا مَرِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَضَهُ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ، كَانَ فِي بَيْتِ عَائِشَةَ، فَقَالَ:" ادْعُوا لِي عَلِيًّا" قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: نَدْعُو لَكَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ؟ قَالَ:" ادْعُوهُ"، قَالَتْ حَفْصَةُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، نَدْعُو لَكَ عُمَرَ؟ قَالَ:" ادْعُوهُ"، قَالَتْ أُمُّ الْفَضْلِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، نَدْعُو لَكَ الْعَبَّاسَ؟ قَالَ:" ادْعُوهُ"، فَلَمَّا اجْتَمَعُوا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ، فَلَمْ يَرَ عَلِيًّا، فَسَكَتَ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: قُومُوا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. فَجَاءَ بِلَالٌ يُؤْذِنُهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ، فَقَالَ:" مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ"، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَجُلٌ حَصِرٌ، وَمَتَى مَا لَا يَرَاكَ النَّاسُ يَبْكُونَ، فَلَوْ أَمَرْتَ عُمَرَ يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ. فَخَرَج أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ، وَوَجَدَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ خِفَّةً، فَخَرَجَ يُهَادَى بَيْنَ رَجُلَيْنِ، وَرِجْلَاهُ تَخُطَّانِ فِي الْأَرْضِ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ النَّاسُ، سَبَّحُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ، فَذَهَبَ يَتَأَخَّرُ، فَأَوْمَأَ إِلَيْهِ: أَيْ مَكَانَكَ فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى جَلَسَ، قَالَ: وَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَأْتَمُّ بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَالنَّاسُ يَأْتَمُّونَ بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: وَأَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْقِرَاءَةِ مِنْ حَيْثُ بَلَغَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، وَمَاتَ فِي مَرَضِهِ ذَاكَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام. وَقَالَ وَكِيعٌ مَرَّةً: فَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَأْتَمُّ بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَالنَّاسُ يَأْتَمُّونَ بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ.
