The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3368
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would wake up at night to offer Tahajjud prayer, he would supplicate: «لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ نُورُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ قَيِّمُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ مَلِكُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْحَقُّ وَوَعْدُكَ حَقٌّ وَلِقَاؤُكَ حَقٌّ وَالْجَنَّةُ حَقٌّ وَالنَّارُ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ حَقٌّ وَمُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَقٌّ وَالنَّبِيُّونَ حَقٌّ اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْتُ وَبِكَ خَاصَمْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ حَاكَمْتُ فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ وَمَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّمُ وَأَنْتَ الْمُؤَخِّرُ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ أَوْ لَا إِلٰهَ غَيْرُكَ» “O Allah! All praise is for You, You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. All praise is for You, You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. And all praise is for You, You are the King of the heavens and the earth and all that is in between them. You are the Truth, Your word is the Truth, Your promise is the Truth, meeting with You is the Truth, Paradise is the Truth, the Hellfire is the Truth, and the Hour is the Truth. Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the Truth, and the Prophets are the Truth. O Allah! I have submitted to You, in You I have believed, upon You I have relied, to You I have turned, with Your might I argue, You I take as my advocate, and to You I have submitted my judgment. So forgive me what I have done in the past and what I will do in the future, what I have concealed and what I have made public. You are the One Who brings forward and You are the One Who puts back. There is no deity worthy of worship but You.”

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ جب رات کے درمیان نماز تہجد پڑھنے کے لئے بیدار ہوتے تو یہ دعا پڑھتے: «لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ نُورُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ قَيِّمُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ مَلِكُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْحَقُّ وَوَعْدُكَ حَقٌّ وَلِقَاؤُكَ حَقٌّ وَالْجَنَّةُ حَقٌّ وَالنَّارُ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ حَقٌّ وَمُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَقٌّ وَالنَّبِيُّونَ حَقٌّ اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْتُ وَبِكَ خَاصَمْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ حَاكَمْتُ فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ وَمَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّمُ وَأَنْتَ الْمُؤَخِّرُ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ أَوْ لَا إِلٰهَ غَيْرُكَ» ”اے اللہ! تمام تعریفیں آپ کے لئے ہیں، آپ ہی زمین و آسمان اور ان میں موجود تمام چیزوں کو روشن کرنے والے ہیں، اور تمام تعریفیں آپ کے لئے ہیں، آپ زمین و آسمان اور ان میں موجود تمام چیزوں کو قائم رکھنے والے ہیں، اور تمام تعریفیں اللہ آپ کے لئے ہیں، آپ زمین و آسمان اور ان کے درمیان تمام مخلوقات کے بادشاہ ہیں، آپ برحق ہیں، آپ کی بات برحق ہے، آپ کا وعدہ برحق ہے، آپ سے ملاقات برحق ہے، جنت برحق ہے، جہنم برحق ہے اور قیامت برحق ہے، اے اللہ! میں آپ کے تابع فرمان ہو گیا، آپ پر ایمان لایا، آپ پر بھروسہ کیا، آپ کی طرف رجوع کیا، آپ ہی کی طاقت سے جھگڑتا ہوں، آپ ہی کو اپنا ثالث بناتا ہوں، اس لئے میرے اگلے پچھلے پوشیدہ اور ظاہر تمام گناہوں کو معاف فرما دیجئے، آپ ہی ہیں جس کے علاوہ کوئی معبود نہیں۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab raat ke darmiyan namaaz tahajjud padhne ke liye bedaar hote to yeh dua padhte: «Laka al-hamdu anta nuru assamawati wal-ardi waman fihinna walaka al-hamdu anta qayyimu assamawati wal-ardi waman fihinna walaka al-hamdu anta maliku assamawati wal-ardi waman fihinna walaka al-hamdu anta al-haqqu wawa'duka haqun waliqa'uka haqun wal-jannatu haqun wan-naru haqun wass-sa'atu haqun wa-Muhammadun sallal lahu 'alayhi wasallama haqun wan-nabiyyuna haqun allahumma laka aslamtu wabika amantu wa'alayka tawakkaltu wa'ilayka anabtu wabika khasamtu wa'ilayka hakamtu faghfir li ma qaddamtu wama akh-khartu wama asrartu wama a'lantu anta al-muqaddimu wa'anta al-mu'akh-khiru la ilaha illa anta aw la ilaha ghayruka» ”Aye Allah! Tamam tarifain aap ke liye hain, aap hi zameen-o-aasman aur un men mojood tamam cheezon ko roshan karne wale hain, aur tamam tarifain aap ke liye hain, aap zameen-o-aasman aur un men mojood tamam cheezon ko qaim rakhne wale hain, aur tamam tarifain Allah aap ke liye hain, aap zameen-o-aasman aur un ke darmiyan tamam makhlooqat ke badshah hain, aap bar-haq hain, aap ki baat bar-haq hai, aap ka wada bar-haq hai, aap se mulaqat bar-haq hai, jannat bar-haq hai, jahannam bar-haq hai aur qayamat bar-haq hai, Aye Allah! Main aap ke tabi farman ho gaya, aap per imaan laya, aap per bharosa kiya, aap ki taraf rujoo kiya, aap hi ki taqat se jhagarta hun, aap hi ko apna salis banata hun, is liye mere agle pichhle poshida aur zahir tamam gunahon ko maaf farma dijiye, aap hi hain jis ke ilawa koi mabood nahin.“.
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ ، سَمِعَهُ مِنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا قَامَ يَتَهَجَّدُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، قَالَ:" لَكَ الْحَمْدُ، أَنْتَ نُورُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ، وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، أَنْتَ قَيِّمُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ، وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، أَنْتَ مَلِكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ، وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، أَنْتَ الْحَقُّ، وَوَعْدُكَ حَقٌّ، وَلِقَاؤُكَ حَقٌّ، وَالْجَنَّةُ حَقٌّ، وَالنَّارُ حَقٌّ، وَالسَّاعَةُ حَقٌّ، وَمُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَقٌّ، وَالنَّبِيُّونَ حَقٌّ، اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ، وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ، وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْتُ، وَبِكَ خَاصَمْتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ حَاكَمْتُ، فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ، وَمَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ، أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّمُ وَأَنْتَ الْمُؤَخِّرُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ. أَوْ لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ".
