Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4588
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) laid siege to the people of Taif, but it proved of no avail. So one day the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) announced that tomorrow, God willing, we will return. The Muslims felt a sense of burden upon hearing this order. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to know of this. So he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked them to stay. Consequently, the next day when the battle took place, many Muslims were wounded. That day, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) again made the same announcement that tomorrow, God willing, we will return. This time, the Muslims were pleased, and seeing this, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) smiled.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے اہل طائف کا محاصرہ کیا اور اس سے کچھ فائدہ نہ ہو سکا تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے ایک دن اعلان کروا دیا کہ کل ہم لوگ ان شاء اللہ واپس چلیں گے، مسلمانوں کو اس حکم پر اپنی طبیعت میں بوجھ محسوس ہوا۔ نبی کریم ﷺ کو خبر ہو گئی آپ ﷺ نے انہیں رکنے کے لئے فرما دیا، چنانچہ اگلے دن لڑائی ہوئی تو اس میں مسلمانوں کے کئی آدمی زخمی ہوئے۔ نبی کریم ﷺ نے اس دن پھر یہی اعلان فرمایا کہ کل ہم لوگ ان شاء اللہ واپس چلیں گے اس مرتبہ مسلمان خوش ہو گئے اور نبی کریم ﷺ یہ دیکھ مسکر انے لگے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ahle Taif ka muhasira kiya aur iss se kuchh faidah na ho saka to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ek din elan karwa diya ki kal hum log in sha Allah wapas chalenge, Musalmanon ko iss hukum par apni tabiyat mein bojh mehsoos hua. Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko khabar ho gai aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhen rukne ke liye farma diya, chunancha agle din ladai hui to uss mein Musalmanon ke kai aadmi zakhmi hue. Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne uss din phir yahi elan farmaya ki kal hum log in sha Allah wapas chalenge iss martaba Musalman khush ho gaye aur Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ye dekh muskuraane lage.
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قِيلَ لِسُفْيَانَ: ابْنُ عَمْرٍو؟ قَالَ: لَا، ابْنُ عُمَرَ أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا حَاصَرَ أَهْلَ الطَّائِفِ، وَلَمْ يَقْدِرْ مِنْهُمْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ، قَالَ:" إِنَّا قَافِلُونَ غَدًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ"، فَكَأَنَّ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَرِهُوا ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ:" اغْدُوا"، فَغَدَوْا عَلَى الْقِتَالِ، فَأَصَابَهُمْ جِرَاحٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّا قَافِلُونَ غَدًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ، فَسُرَّ الْمُسْلِمُونَ، فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ".
