Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4703
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the people of Quraysh used to swear by the names of their forefathers. The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Whoever wants to swear an oath, let him swear by Allah, do not swear by the names of your forefathers."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ قریش کے لوگ اپنے آباؤ اجداد کے نام کی قسمیں کھایا کرتے تھے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”جو شخص قسم کھانا چاہتا ہے وہ اللہ کے نام کی قسم کھائے، اپنے آباؤ اجداد کے نام کی قسمیں مت کھاؤ۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Quresh ke log apne abaau ajdad ke naam ki qasmein khaya karte the Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Jo shakhs qasam khana chahta hai woh Allah ke naam ki qasam khaye, apne abaau ajdad ke naam ki qasmein mat khao."
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: كَانَتْ قُرَيْشٌ تَحْلِفُ بِآبَائِهَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم:" مَنْ كَانَ حَالِفًا، فَلْيَحْلِفْ بِاللَّهِ، لَا تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ".
