Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5027
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Ghaylan bin Salmah Thaqafi embraced Islam, he had ten wives in his marriage. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him, "Choose four of them (and divorce the remaining six)."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ غیلان بن سلمہ ثقفی نے جس وقت اسلام قبول کیا ان کے نکاح میں دس بیویاں تھیں، نبی ﷺ نے ان سے فرمایا کہ ان میں سے چار کو منتخب کر لو (اور باقی چھ کو طلاق دے دو)۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar Radi Allah Anhuma se marvi hai ki Ghailan bin Salma Saqafi ne jis waqt Islam qabool kiya un ke nikah mein das biwiyan thin, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne un se farmaya ki un mein se chaar ko muntakhib kar lo (aur baqi chhe ko talaq de do).
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، وَعَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: أَسْلَمَ غَيْلَانُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَتَحْتَهُ عَشْرُ نِسْوَةٍ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" خُذْ مِنْهُنَّ أَرْبَعًا".
