Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5049
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray Salat by offering two rak'ahs at a time, then in the last part of the night, he would pray one rak'ah (Witr) with it, making it (a total of) three.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ دو دو رکعتیں کر کے نماز پڑھتے تھے، پھر رات کے آخری حصے میں ان کے ساتھ ایک رکعت ملا کر (تین) وتر پڑھ لیتے تھے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) do do rakat kar ke namaz parhte the, phir raat ke aakhiri hisse mein un ke sath ek rakat mila kar (teen) witr parh lete the.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ" يُصَلِّي بِاللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، وَيُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ".
