Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5051
It is narrated by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying, “Whoever punishes his slave for a crime he did not commit, or slaps him, then his expiation is to set him free.”

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ جو شخص اپنے غلام کو کسی ایسے جرم کی سزا دے جو اس نے نہ کیا ہو یا اسے تھپڑ مارے، اس کا کفارہ یہی ہے کہ اسے آزاد کر دے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye farmate huye suna hai ki jo shakhs apne ghulam ko kisi aise jurm ki saza de jo usne na kiya ho ya use thappar mare, uska kaffara yahi hai ki use azad kar de.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ فِرَاسٍ ، سَمِعْتُ ذَكْوَانَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ زَاذَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:" مَنْ ضَرَبَ غُلَامًا لَهُ حَدًّا لَمْ يَأْتِهِ، أَوْ لَطَمَهُ، فَإِنَّ كَفَّارَتَهُ أَنْ يُعْتِقَهُ".
