Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5284
Narrated by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we used to avoid excessive conversations and complete informality with our wives, fearing that some verses of the Quran might be revealed concerning our conduct. After the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away, we felt at ease to engage in conversations.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ہم لوگ نبی ﷺ کے دور باسعادت میں زیادہ بات چیت اور اپنی بیویوں کے ساتھ مکمل بےتکلفی سے بچا کرتے تھے کہیں ایسا نہ ہو کہ ہمارے متعلق قرآن میں کوئی احکام جاری ہو جائیں، جب نبی ﷺ کا وصال ہو گیا تب ہم نے کلام کیا۔
Saydna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ke hum log Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke daur basaadat mein ziada baat cheet aur apni biwiyon ke sath mukammal betakalufi se bacha karte thay kahin aisa na ho ke humare mutalliq Quran mein koi ahkam jari hojain, jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka wisal ho gaya tab hum ne kalaam kiya.
(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ:" كُنَّا نَتَّقِي كَثِيرًا مِنَ الْكَلَامِ وَالِانْبِسَاطِ إِلَى نِسَائِنَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ فِينَا الْقُرْآنُ، فَلَمَّا مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَكَلَّمْنَا".
