Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5289
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade Nikah Shighar (exchange marriage). Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Nikah Shighar means that a man says to another, "Marry your daughter to me, and I will marry my daughter to you."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے نکاح شغار (وٹے سٹے کی صورت) سے منع فرمایا ہے، امام مالک رحمہ اللہ فرماتے ہیں نکاح شغار کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ ایک آدمی دوسرے سے کہے کہ تم اپنی بیٹی کا نکاح مجھ سے کر دو میں اپنی بیٹی کا نکاح تم سے کر دیتا ہوں۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne nikah shughar (wate sate ki surat) se mana farmaya hai, Imam Malik Rahmatullah Alaih farmate hain nikah shughar ka matlab ye hai ki ek aadmi dusre se kahe ki tum apni beti ka nikah mujh se kar do main apni beti ka nikah tum se kar deta hun.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" نَهَى عَنِ الشِّغَارِ"، قَالَ مَالِكٌ: وَالشِّغَارُ أَنْ يَقُولَ: أَنْكِحْنِي ابْنَتَكَ، وَأُنْكِحُكَ ابْنَتِي.
