Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5331
Ali bin Abdur Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: Once, while I was playing during prayer, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw me. When he finished his prayer, he forbade me from doing so and said, "Pray in the same way as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray." I asked, "How did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray?" He replied, "When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would sit in prayer, he would place his right palm on his right thigh, closing all his fingers and would gesture with the finger adjacent to the thumb. And he would place his left palm on his left thigh."

علی بن عبدالرحمن رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے مجھے دوران نماز کھیلتے ہوئے دیکھا، تو نماز سے فارغ ہو کر مجھے اس سے منع کرتے ہوئے فرمایا نماز میں اسی طرح کیا کرو جیسے نبی ﷺ کرتے تھے، میں نے پوچھا کہ نبی ﷺ کس طرح کرتے تھے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ نبی ﷺ جب نماز میں بیٹھتے تو دائیں ہتھیلی کو دائیں ران پر رکھ کر تمام انگلیاں بند کر لیتے تھے اور انگوٹھے کے ساتھ والی انگلی سے اشارہ فرماتے تھے اور بائیں ہتھیلی کو بائیں ران پر رکھتے تھے۔

Unhon ne farmaya ke Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab namaz mein baithte to daini hatheli ko daini ran par rakh kar tamam unglian band kar lete the aur ungoothe ke sath wali ungli se ishara farmate the aur baein hatheli ko baein ran par rakhte the.
قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُعَاوِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: رَآنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ وَأَنَا أَعْبَثُ بِالْحَصَى فِي الصَّلَاةِ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ نَهَانِي، وَقَالَ: اصْنَعْ كَمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ، قُلْتُ: وَكَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ؟ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" إِذَا جَلَسَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَضَعَ كَفَّهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى، وَقَبَضَ أَصَابِعَهُ كُلَّهَا، وَأَشَارَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ الَّتِي تَلِي الْإِبْهَامَ، وَوَضَعَ كَفَّهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُسْرَى".
