Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5366
It is narrated by Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a gold ring made. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to wear it with the stone towards his palm. People also started wearing rings. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) threw his ring away. The people also took off their rings. Then, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a silver ring made. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to use it for sealing, but he did not wear it.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے سونے کی انگوٹھی بنوائی، اس کا نگینہ آپ ﷺ ہتھیلی کی طرف کر لیتے تھے، لوگوں نے بھی انگوٹھیاں بنوا لیں، جس پر نبی ﷺ نے اسے پھینک دیا، لوگوں نے بھی اپنی انگوٹھیاں اتار پھینکیں، پھر نبی ﷺ نے چاندی کی انگوٹھی بنوا لی، اس سے نبی ﷺ مہر لگاتے تھے لیکن اسے پہنتے نہیں تھے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne sone ki anguthi banwai, iska nageena Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) hatheli ki taraf karte thay, logon ne bhi anguthiyan banwa lin, jis par Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ise phenk diya, logon ne bhi apni anguthiyan utar phenkin, phir Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne chandi ki anguthi banwa li, isse Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) mohar lagate thay lekin ise pehente nahi thay.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" خَاتَمٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، وَكَانَ يَجْعَلُ فَصَّهُ فِي بَاطِنِ يَدِهِ، قَالَ: فَطَرَحَهُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ، فَطَرَحَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ، ثُمَّ اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، فَكَانَ يَخْتِمُ بِهِ وَلَا يَلْبَسُهُ".
