Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5373
Umar bin Abdullah narrates that once some people were leaving Marwan's place when they met Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked them, "Where are you coming from?" They replied, "We are coming from the Ameer of Madinah, Marwan." Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Did you speak up for the truth that you saw there and support it, and did you forbid the evil that you saw and express disapproval?" They replied, "By Allah! It didn't happen like that. Rather, he would say something wrong, and we would affirm it and say to him, 'May Allah treat you well.' And when we left his presence, we said, 'May Allah kill him, how oppressive and wicked he is!'" Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "During the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we used to consider this hypocrisy."

عمر بن عبداللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ کچھ لوگ مروان کے پاس سے نکل رہے تھے تو سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کی ان سے ملاقات ہو گئی، انہوں نے پوچھا کہ یہ لوگ کہاں سے آ رہے ہیں؟ وہ لوگ بولے کہ ہم امیر مدینہ مروان کے پاس سے آ رہے ہیں، سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا: کیا تم نے وہاں جو حق بات دیکھی اس کے متعلق بولے اور اس کی اعانت کی، اور جو منکر دیکھا اس پر نکیر اور تریدد کی؟ وہ کہنے لگے کہ واللہ! ایسا نہیں ہوا بلکہ وہ غلط بات کہتا تھا اور ہم اس کی تائید کرتے تھے اور اس سے کہتے تھے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ آپ کے ساتھ بہتری کا معاملہ کرے، اور جب ہم وہاں سے نکل آئے تو ہم کہنے لگے کہ اللہ اسے قتل کرے، یہ کتنا ظالم اور بدکار ہے، سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا کہ نبی ﷺ کے دور باسعادت میں اس چیز کو ہم نفاق سمجھتے تھے۔

Woh log bole ki hum Ameer Madina Marwan ke paas se aa rahe hain, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne farmaya: kya tum ne wahan jo haq baat dekhi us ke mutalliq bole aur us ki ianat ki, aur jo munkar dekha us par nakaar aur taraddud ki? Woh kehne lage ki Wallah! Aisa nahin hua balki woh ghalat baat kehta tha aur hum us ki taeed karte the aur us se kehte the ki Allah Ta'ala aap ke sath behtari ka muamala kare, aur jab hum wahan se nikal aaye to hum kehne lage ki Allah use qatl kare, ye kitna zalim aur badkar hai, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne farmaya ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke daur basadat mein is cheez ko hum nifaaq samajhte the.
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْهَادِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ لَقِيَ نَاسًا خَرَجُوا مِنْ عِنْدِ مَرْوَانَ، فَقَالَ:" مِنْ أَيْنَ جَاءَ هَؤُلَاءِ؟" قَالُوا: خَرَجْنَا مِنْ عِنْدِ الْأَمِيرِ مَرْوَانَ، قَالَ:" وَكُلُّ حَقٍّ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ تَكَلَّمْتُمْ بِهِ، وَأَعَنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ، وَكُلُّ مُنْكَرٍ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ أَنْكَرْتُمُوهُ وَرَدَدْتُمُوهُ عَلَيْهِ؟" قَالُوا: لَا وَاللَّهِ، بَلْ يَقُولُ مَا يُنْكَرُ، فَنَقُولُ: قَدْ أَصَبْتَ أَصْلَحَكَ اللَّهُ، فَإِذَا خَرَجْنَا مِنْ عِنْدِهِ قُلْنَا: قَاتَلَهُ اللَّهُ، مَا أَظْلَمَهُ وَأَفْجَرَهُ!! قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ :" كُنَّا بِعَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَعُدُّ هَذَا نِفَاقًا، لِمَنْ كَانَ هَكَذَا".
