Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5557
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that "I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offering a supererogatory prayer on a donkey while he was facing towards the east."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو گدھے پر نفلی نماز پڑھتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے، اس وقت آپ ﷺ مشرق کو جا رہے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" يُصَلِّي عَلَى حِمَارٍ، وَوَجْهُهُ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ، تَطَوُّعًا".
