Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5821
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever frees a slave who is jointly owned, then he is made responsible to free the rest of his share, if he has enough wealth to free him. But if he does not have enough wealth to free him, then he remains with what he already freed."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”جو شخص کسی غلام کو اپنے حصے کے بقدر آزاد کر دیتا ہے تو اسے اس کا بقیہ حصہ آزاد کر نے کا بھی مکلف بنایا جائے گا، اگر اس کے پاس اتنا مال نہ ہو جس سے اسے آزاد کیا جا سکے تو جتنا اس نے آزاد کیا ہے اتنا ہی رہے گا۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: ”Jo shakhs kisi gulam ko apne hisse ke baqadr azad kar deta hai to use uska baqiya hissa azad karne ka bhi mukallaf banaya jayega, agar uske paas itna maal na ho jis se use azad kiya ja sake to jitna usne azad kiya hai utna hi rahega.“
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، سَمِعْتُ نَافِعًا ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:" مَنْ أَعْتَقَ نَصِيبًا لَهُ فِي عَبْدٍ، فَإِنْ كَانَ لَهُ مِنَ الْمَالِ مَا يَبْلُغُ قِيمَتَهُ، قُوِّمَ عَلَيْهِ قِيمَةَ عَدْلٍ، وَإِلَّا فَقَدْ أَعْتَقَ مَا أَعْتَقَ".
