Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6005
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) shaved his head, while some of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) shaved their heads and some trimmed their hair. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) invoked Allah's mercy once or twice upon those who shaved their heads, then he said: "And upon those who trimmed their hair, too."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے حلق کر ایاجب کہ صحابہ کر ام رضی اللہ عنہ میں سے بعض نے حلق اور بعض نے قصر کر ایا چنانچہ نبی ﷺ نے ایک یا دو مرتبہ حلق کر انے والوں پر اللہ کی رحمتیں نازل ہوں، پھر فرمایا: اور قصر کر انے والوں پر بھی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne halq kar liya jab keh Sahaba Karam (رضي الله تعالى عنه) mein se baz ne halq aur baz ne qasar kar liya chunanche Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ek ya do martaba halq karne walon par Allah ki rehmaten nazil hon, phir farmaya: aur qasar karne walon par bhi.
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: حَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَحَلَقَ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، وَقَصَّرَ بَعْضُهُمْ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" رَحِمَ اللَّهُ الْمُحَلِّقِينَ" مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ" وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ".
