Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6107
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a gold ring made. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to wear it with the stone towards his palm. People also started making rings, whereupon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) threw his ring away. People also took off their rings and threw them away. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a silver ring made. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to use it as a seal, but he did not wear it.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے سونے کی انگوٹھی بنوائی، اس کا نیگنہ آپ ﷺ ہتھیلی کی طرف کر لیتے تھے لوگوں نے بھی انگوٹھیاں بنوا لیں جس پر نبی ﷺ نے اسے پھینک دیا لوگوں نے بھی اپنی انگوٹھیاں اتار پھینکیں پھر نبی ﷺ نے چاندی کی انگوٹھی بنوا لی، اس سے نبی ﷺ مہر لگاتے تھے لیکن اسے پہنتے نہیں تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ:" كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، وَكَانَ يَجْعَلُ فَصَّهُ فِي بَاطِنِ يَدِهِ، فَطَرَحَهُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ، فَطَرَحَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ، ثُمَّ اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، فَكَانَ يَخْتِمُ بِهِ، وَلَا يَلْبَسُهُ".
