Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6139
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the Prophet's Mosque was built with unbaked bricks. Its roof was made of branches, and its pillars were made of palm tree trunks. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddique (may Allah be pleased with him) did not make any additions to this structure during his caliphate. Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) made some additions to its construction, but its foundation remained the same as it was during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) - unbaked bricks, branches, and new wood was used for the pillars. Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) was the first to make changes to its structure and made significant additions to it. He had its walls built with carved stones and lime, its pillars made of carved stones, and its roof laid with teakwood.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ کے دور باسعادت میں مسجد نبوی کچی اینٹوں سے بنی ہوئی تھی اس کی چھت پر ٹہنیاں ڈال دی گئی تھیں اور اس کے ستون کھجور کے درخت کی لکڑی کے تھے سیدنا صدیق اکبر رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنے دور خلافت میں اس تعمیر میں کچھ اضافہ نہ کیا سیدنا عمر فاروق رضی اللہ عنہ نے اس کی تعمیر میں کچھ اضافہ کیا لیکن اس کی بنیاد اسی تعمیر کی بنائی جو نبی ﷺ کے دور باسعادت میں تھی یعنی کچی اینٹیں اور ٹہنیاں اور ستونوں میں بھی نئی لکڑی لگوا دی سیدنا عثمان غنی رضی اللہ عنہ نے سب سے پہلے اس کی عمارت میں تبدیلیاں کیں اور اس میں بہت زیادہ اضافے کئے انہوں نے اس کی دیوار منقش پتھروں اور چونے سے تعمیر کروائی اس کے ستون منقش پتھروں سے بنوائے اور چھت پر ساگوان کی لکڑی ڈالی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke daur e basadat mein Masjid e Nabvi kachi inton se bani hui thi is ki chhat par tehaniyan daal di gai thin aur is ke satoon khajoor ke darakht ki lakdi ke thay Sayyidna Siddiq e Akbar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne apne daur e khilafat mein is tameer mein kuch izafa na kiya Sayyidna Umar Farooq (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne is ki tameer mein kuch izafa kiya lekin is ki bunyad isi tameer ki banai jo Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke daur e basadat mein thi yani kachi inten aur tehaniyan aur satonon mein bhi nai lakdi lagwai di Sayyidna Usman Ghani (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne sab se pehle is ki imarat mein tabdeeliyan kin aur is mein bahut zyada izafe kiye unhon ne is ki deewar munaqqash pattharon aur choone se tameer karwai is ke satoon munaqqash pattharon se banwaye aur chhat par saagwan ki lakdi dali.
(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَهُ:" أَنَّ الْمَسْجِدَ كَانَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَبْنِيًّا بِاللَّبِنِ، وَسَقْفُهُ الْجَرِيدُ، وَعُمُدُهُ خَشَبُ النَّخْلِ، فَلَمْ يَزِدْ فِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ شَيْئًا، وَزَادَ فِيهِ عُمَرُ، وَبَنَاهُ عَلَى بِنَائِهِ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّبِنِ وَالْجَرِيدِ، وَأَعَادَ عُمُدَهُ خَشَبًا، ثُمَّ غَيَّرَهُ عُثْمَانُ، فَزَادَ فِيهِ زِيَادَةً كَثِيرَةً، وَبَنَى جِدَارَهُ بِالْحِجَارَةِ الْمَنْقُوشَةِ وَالْقَصَّةِ، وَجَعَلَ عُمُدَهُ مِنْ حِجَارَةٍ مَنْقُوشَةٍ، وَسَقْفَهُ بِالسَّاجِ".
