Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6213
Imam Shabi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “I used to visit Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) for about two years, but during that time I did not hear any Hadith from him except this.” Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Once we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when lizard meat was brought. The people started eating it. One of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called out, saying: ‘This is lizard meat.’ (Hearing this, Sahabah (may Allah be pleased with them) stopped eating it). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Eat it, it is permissible, and there is no harm in eating it. However, it is not something that I eat.’ And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself refrained from eating it.”

امام شعبی رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کے پاس ڈیڑھ دو سال کے قریب آتا جاتا رہا ہوں لیکن اس دوران میں نے ان سے اس کے علاوہ کوئی حدیث نہیں سنی سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا: کہ ایک مرتبہ ہم لوگ نبی ﷺ کے ہمراہ تھے کہ گوہ لائی گئی لوگ اسے کھانے لگے نبی ﷺ کی کسی زوجہ محترمہ نے پکار کر کہا کہ یہ گوہ کا گوشت ہے (یہ سنتے ہی صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہ رک گئے) نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: اسے کھالو یہ حلال ہے اور اسے کھانے میں کوئی حرج نہیں البتہ یہ میرے کھانے کی چیز نہیں ہے اور خود نبی ﷺ رک گئے۔
Imam Shabi rehmatullah alaih kehte hain keh mein Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ke paas derh do saal ke qareeb aata jata raha hun lekin is dauran mein ne un se is ke ilawa koi hadees nahin suni Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne farmaya: keh ek martaba hum log Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke humrah the keh gau laayi gayi log use khane lage Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki kisi zauja muhtarima ne pukar kar kaha keh yah gau ka gosht hai (yah sunte hi Sahaba (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ruk gaye) Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ise khao yah halal hai aur ise khane mein koi harj nahin albatta yah mere khane ki cheez nahin hai aur khud Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ruk gaye.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ تَوْبَةَ ، قَالَ: قَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ : لَقَدْ صَحِبْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ سَنَةً وَنِصْفًا، فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا حَدِيثًا وَاحِدًا، قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأُتِيَ بِضَبٍّ، فَجَعَلَ الْقَوْمُ يَأْكُلُونَ، فَنَادَتْ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ، إِنَّهُ ضَبٌّ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" كُلُوا، فَإِنَّهُ حَلَالٌ"، أَوْ" كُلُوا، فَلَا بَأْسَ"، قَالَ: فَكَفَّ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ:" إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِحَرَامٍ، وَلَكِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ طَعَامِي".
