The Musnad of Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them both)
مسنَد عَبدِ اللَّهِ بنِ عمَرَ بنِ الخَطَّابِ رَضِیَ اللَّه تَعَالَى عَنهمَا
Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6254
It is narrated by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to walk in front of the funeral procession and say that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the three caliphs after him also used to walk in front of the funeral procession.
سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ وہ جنازے کے آگے چلتے تھے اور فرماتے تھے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ اور حضرات خلفاء ثلاثہ بھی جنازے کے آگے چلتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ شِهَابٍ , قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ , أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَمْشِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْ الْجِنَازَةِ، وَقَدْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ , وَعُمَرُ , وَعُثْمَانُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ يَمْشُونَ أَمَامَهَا.
