Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6449
Nafi', may Allah have mercy on him, said that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, were on a journey. One of his students dismounted from his ride to offer the Witr prayer. He (Ibn Umar) asked him, "What's the matter? Why didn't you stay mounted?" He replied, "I want to offer the Witr prayer." Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "Isn't the character of the Messenger of Allah a good example for you?"

نافع رحمہ اللہ کہ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما ایک سفر میں تھے ان کا کوئی شاگرد وتر پڑھنے کے لئے اپنی سواری سے اترا تو انہوں نے اس سے پوچھا کیا بات ہے تم سوار کیوں نہیں رہے؟ اس نے کہا میں وتر پڑھنا چاہتا ہوں سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا: ”کیا اللہ کے رسول کی ذات میں تمہارے لئے اسؤہ حسنہ موجود نہیں ہے۔
Nafi rehmatullah alaih ke syedna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma aik safar mein thay un ka koi shagird witr parhne ke liye apni sawari se utra to unhon ne us se poocha kya baat hai tum sawar kyun nahi rahe? Us ne kaha mein witr parhna chahta hun syedna Umar razi Allah anhu ne farmaya: ”kya Allah ke Rasool ki zaat mein tumhare liye uswa hasna mojood nahi hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَنَزَلَ صَاحِبٌ لَهُ يُوتِرُ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: مَا شَأْنُكَ لَا تَرْكَبُ؟ قَالَ: أُوتِرُ , قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ:" أَلَيْسَ لَكَ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ؟!".
