Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6896
Narrated by Ibn 'Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying, "Allah will not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people, but He will take away knowledge by taking away the scholars. Until, when no scholar remains, people will take the ignorant as their leaders, and when they are asked for religious verdicts, they will give them without knowledge. So they will go astray themselves and lead others astray."

سیدنا ابن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ علم کو اس طرح نہیں اٹھائے گا کہ اسے لوگوں کے درمیان سے کھینچ لے گا بلکہ علماء کو اٹھا کر علم اٹھالے گا حتٰی کہ جب ایک عالم بھی نہ رہے گا تو لوگ جاہلوں کو اپنا پیشوا بنالیں گے اور انہیں سے مسائل معلوم کیا کر یں گے وہ علم کے بغیر انہیں فتویٰ دیں گے نتیجہ یہ ہو گا کہ خود بھی گمراہ ہوں گے اور دوسروں کو بھی گمراہ کر یں گے۔
Sayyidina Ibn Amr RA se marvi hai keh maine Nabi Kareem SAW ko yeh farmate huye suna hai keh Allah Ta'ala ilm ko iss tarah nahi uthaye ga keh usse logon ke darmiyan se khench le ga balkeh ulama ko utha kar ilm utha le ga hatta keh jab ek alim bhi na rahe ga to log jahilon ko apna peshwa bana lenge aur unhen se masail maloom kya karenge woh ilm ke baghair unhen fatwa denge nateeja yeh ho ga keh khud bhi gumrah honge aur dusron ko bhi gumrah kar denge.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَنْزِعُ الْعِلْمَ مِنَ النَّاسِ بَعْدَ أَنْ يُعْطِيَهُمْ إِيَّاهُ، وَلَكِنْ يَذْهَبُ بِالْعُلَمَاءِ، كُلَّمَا ذَهَبَ عَالِمٌ ذَهَبَ بِمَا مَعَهُ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ، حَتَّى يَبْقَى مَنْ لَا يَعْلَمُ، فَيَتَّخِذَ النَّاسُ رُؤَسَاءَ جُهَّالًا، فَيُسْتَفْتَوْا، فَيُفْتُوا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ، فَيَضِلُّوا، وَيُضِلُّوا".
