Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 7552
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a funeral passed by the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The people started praising the deceased and enumerating his good qualities. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remarked, "He is destined (for Paradise)." In the meantime, another funeral passed by, and people began to mention the bad qualities of the deceased and condemn him. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remarked, "He is destined (for Hellfire)." Then he said, "You people are Allah's witnesses on earth."

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ کے پاس سے ایک جنازہ گذرا لوگ اس کے عمدہ خصائل اور اس کی تعریف بیان کرنے لگے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا واجب ہوگئی اسی اثناء میں ایک اور جنازہ گذرا اور لوگوں نے اس کے برے خصائل اور اس کی مذمت بیان کی۔ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا واجب ہوگئی پھر فرمایا کہ تم لوگ زمین میں اللہ کے گواہ ہو۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira razi Allah anhu se marvi hai ke Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pass se ek janaza guzara log uske umda khasail aur us ki tareef bayan karne lage Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya wajib hogayi isi asna mein ek aur janaza guzara aur logon ne uske bure khasail aur us ki mazammat bayan ki. Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya wajib hogayi phir farmaya ke tum log zameen mein Allah ke gawah ho.
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى ، وَيَزِيدُ ، قَالَا: أخبرنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: مَرَّتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ يَزِيدُ: مَرُّوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجِنَازَةٍ، فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا فِي مَنَاقِبِ الْخَيْرِ، فَقَالَ:" وَجَبَتْ"، ثُمَّ مَرَّتْ عَلَيْهِ جَنَازَةٌ أُخْرَى، فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا فِي مَنَاقِبِ الشَّرِّ، فَقَالَ:" وَجَبَتْ" ثُمَّ قَالَ:" إِنَّكُمْ شُهَدَاءُ فِي الْأَرْضِ".
