Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 7820
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offered the Zuhr or Asr prayer and ended it after two rak'ahs. Some hasty people left, saying that the rak'ahs of the prayer had been reduced. Meanwhile, Dhu'l-Shamalayn bin 'Abd 'Amr, who was an ally of Banu Zuhrah, asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Have you forgotten or have the rak'ahs of the prayer been reduced?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), "Is it as Dhu'l-Shamalayn is saying?" Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) confirmed. Upon this, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offered the two rak'ahs he had missed. Then, after finishing the prayer with salam, he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness while sitting.

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ظہر یا عصر کی نماز پڑھائی اور دو رکعتیں پڑھا کر ہی سلام پھیر دیا اس پر جلد باز لوگ نکل گئے اور کہنے لگے کہ نماز کی رکعتیں کم ہوگئیں ادھر ذوالشمالین بن عبد عمرو جو بنی زہرہ کے حلیف تھے نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! کیا آپ بھول گئے یا نماز کی رکعتیں کم ہوگئی ہیں؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا کیا ایسا ہی ہے جیسے ذوالیدین کہہ رہے ہیں؟ صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان کی تائید کی اس پر نبی کریم ﷺ نے جو دو رکعتیں چھوٹ گئی تھیں انہیں ادا کیا پھر سلام پھیر کر بیٹھے بیٹھے سہو کے دو سجدے کر لئے۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Zuhar ya Asr ki namaz parhai aur do rakaten parh kar hi salaam pher diya is par jald baz log nikal gaye aur kehne lage ki namaz ki rakaten kam ho gayi idhar Zualshamaleen bin Abd Amro jo Bani Zahra ke halif thay ne arz kiya Ya Rasulullah kya aap bhul gaye ya namaz ki rakaten kam ho gayin Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Sahaba (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se pucha kya aisa hi hai jaise Zu'l yadayn keh rahe hain Sahaba Karam (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne unki taiyd ki is par Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne jo do rakaten chhut gayi thin unhen ada kiya phir salaam pher kar baithe baithe sahu ke do sajde kar liye
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الظُّهْرَ أَوْ الْعَصْرَ، فَسَلَّمَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ، فَخَرَجَ سَرَعَانُ النَّاسِ، فَقَالُوا: خُفِّفَتْ الصَّلَاةُ، فَقَالَ ذُو الشِّمَالَيْنِ: أَخُفِّفَتْ الصَّلَاةُ أَمْ نَسِيتَ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا يَقُولُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ؟" قَالُوا: صَدَقَ. فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ اللَّتَيْنِ تَرَكَ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ، بَعْدَ مَا سَلَّمَ .
