The Musnad of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him)
مسنَد اَبِی هرَیرَةَ رَضِیَ اللَّه عَنه
Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 8131
And the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "By the One in whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), if I thought that the Muslims would not be burdened, I would never stay behind from any expedition in the way of Allah. But I do not have enough resources to provide them with mounts, and they do not have enough resources to follow me, and they should not be compelled, lest they stay back from participating in Jihad after me."

اور نبی کریم ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا اس ذات کی قسم جس کے دست قدرت میں محمد ﷺ کی جان ہے اگر میں سمجھتا کہ مسلمان مشقت میں نہیں پڑیں گے تو میں اللہ کے راستہ میں نکلنے والے کسی سریہ سے کبھی پیچھے نہ رہتا لیکن میں اتنی وسعت نہیں پاتا کہ انہیں سواری مہیا کرسکوں اور وہ اتنی وسعت نہیں پاتے کہ وہ میری پیروی کرسکیں اور ان کی دلی رضامندی نہ ہو اور وہ میرے بعد جہاد میں شرکت کرنے سے پیچھے ہٹنے لگیں۔
Aur Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya is zaat ki qasam jis ke dast qudrat mein Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki jaan hai agar mein samajhta ke musalman mushqat mein nahi padhenge to mein Allah ke raaste mein nikalne wale kisi sariya se kabhi peeche na rehtaa lekin mein itni wusat nahi paata ke unhen sawari muhayya karsakun aur wo itni wusat nahi paate ke wo meri pairvi karsaken aur un ki dilhi raza mandi na ho aur wo mere baad jihad mein shirkat karne se peeche hatne lageen.
وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ فِي يَدِهِ، لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، مَا قَعَدْتُ خَلْفَ سَرِيَّةٍ تَغْزُو فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، وَلَكِنْ لَا أَجِدُ سَعَةً فَأَحْمِلَهُمْ، وَلَا يَجِدُونَ سَعَةً فَيَتَّبِعُونِي، وَلَا تَطِيبُ أَنْفُسُهُمْ أَنْ يَقْعُدُوا بَعْدِي" .
