Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 8534
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The most virtuous prayer after the obligatory prayers is the one that is offered in the middle of the night, and the most virtuous fast after the fasts of Ramadan is the fast of the month of Allah, which you call Muharram."

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: فرض نمازوں کے بعد سب سے زیادہ افضل نماز رات کے درمیانی حصے میں پڑھی جانے والی ہے اور ماہ رمضان کے روزوں کے بعدسب سے زیادہ افضل روزہ اللہ کے اس مہینے کا ہے جسے تم محرم کہتے ہو۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Farz namaazon ke baad sab se zyada afzal namaz raat ke darmiyani hisse mein parha jane wali hai aur mah-e-ramzan ke rozon ke baad sab se zyada afzal roza Allah ke us mahine ka hai jise tum muharram kahte ho.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَفْضَلُ الصِّيَامِ بَعْدَ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرُ اللَّهِ الْمُحَرَّمُ، وَأَفْضَلُ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الْفَرِيضَةِ أَوْ الْفَرْضِ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ" .
