Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 9610
Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) advised his uncle (Hazrat Abu Talib at the time of his death) to recite the declaration of faith "There is no god but Allah" so that on the Day of Judgment, he could testify in his favor. Hazrat Abu Talib replied that if the Quraish people did not accuse him of reciting this statement out of fear, he would have cooled the Prophet's eyes (meaning he would have accepted Islam). In response to this, Allah revealed the verse: "Indeed, you (O Muhammad) cannot guide whom you love, but Allah guides whom He wills."

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے اپنے چچا (خواجہ ابو طالب سے ان کی موت کے وقت) فرمایا کہ لاالہ الا اللہ " کا اقرار کرلیجئے میں قیامت کے دن اس کے ذریعے آپ کے حق میں گواہی دوں گا انہوں نے کہا کہ اگر مجھے قریش کے لوگ یہ طعنہ نہ دیتے کہ خوف کی وجہ سے انہوں نے یہ کلمہ پڑھا ہے تو میں آپ کی آنکھیں ٹھنڈی کردیتا اس پر اللہ نے یہ آیت نازل فرمائی کہ آپ جسے چاہیں اسے ہدایت نہیں دے سکتے۔
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apne chacha (Khwaja Abu Talib se un ki maut ke waqt) farmaya ki La Ilaha Illallah ka iqrar kar lijiye main qayamat ke din iske zariye aap ke haq mein gawahi dun ga unhon ne kaha ki agar mujhe Quresh ke log ye ta'ana na dete ki khauf ki wajah se unhon ne ye kalma padha hai to main aap ki aankhen thandi karta is par Allah ne ye ayat nazil farmai ki aap jise chahen use hidayat nahin de sakte.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ كَيْسَانَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم لِعَمِّهِ: " قُلْ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ أَشْهَدْ لَكَ بِهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ". قَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنْ تُعَيِّرَنِي قُرَيْشٌ، يَقُولُونَ: إِنَّمَا حَمَلَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ الْجَزَعُ، لَأَقْرَرْتُ بِهَا عَيْنَكَ. فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: إِنَّكَ لا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ سورة القصص آية 56 .
