Chapter on Preferably Not Reducing the Amount of Water Used in Ablution or the Measure in Ghusl
باب استحباب أن لا ينقص في الوضوء من مد ولا في الغسل من صاع
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 932
Sayyiduna Safiinah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would perform ghusl (ritual bath) with one saa' [of water] and would perform wudu (ablution) with one mudd [of water].

(٩٣٢) سیدنا سفینہ (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ایک صاع سے غسل کرتے تھے اور ایک مد سے وضو کرتے تھے۔
(932) Syedna Safeena (RA) farmate hain ki Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ek sa'a se ghusl karte thay aur ek mudd se wuzu karte thay.
Narrated Safiyyah (RA): One Mudd (of water) would be sufficient for the Wudhu of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and one Sa' (of water) for his bath.

(٩٣٣) سیدنا سفینہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے وضو کے لیے ایک مدکافی ہوتا تھا اور ایک صاع غسل کے لیے کافی ہوتا تھا۔
(933) Sayyidina Safinah (RA) se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke wuzu ke liye ek mud kafi hota tha aur ek sa gusal ke liye kafi hota tha.
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution with one mudd of water and take a bath with one sa' of water.

(٩٣٤) سیدہ عائشہ (رض) فرماتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ایک مد سے وضو کرتے تھے اور ایک صاع سے غسل کرتے تھے۔
(934) Syeda Ayesha (RA) farmati hain keh Rasul Allah (SAW) aik mud se wuzu karte thay aur aik sa'a se ghusl karte thay.
Jabir bin 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "One Mudd (of water) is sufficient for ablution and one Sa' (of water) is sufficient for the Ghusl (ritual bath) after Janabah (sexual intercourse)."

(٩٣٥) سیدنا جابر بن عبداللہ (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” وضو کے لیے ایک مد (پانی) اور غسل جنابت کے لیے ایک صاع (پانی) کافی رہے گا۔ “
935 Saidina Jabir bin Abdullah (RA) farmate hain ke Rasul Allah (SAW) ne farmaya : "Wuzu ke liye ek mud (pani) aur ghusl janabat ke liye ek saa (pani) kafi rahega."
Yazid narrates from his father only, from his grandfather that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to perform ablution with one mudd (of water) and take a bath with one sa' (of water).

(٩٣٦) یزید اکیلے اسی سند سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ایک مد (پانی) سے وضو کرتے تھے اور ایک صاع (پانی) سے غسل کرتے تھے۔
Yazid akelay isi sanad se naql farmate hain ke Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ek mud (pani) se wuzu karte thay aur ek sa'a (pani) se ghusl karte thay.
I was with Abu Ja'far, our leader Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), when some people asked him about the Ghusl (ritual bath) for Janabah (state of impurity after sexual discharge). He said, "A Sa' (a unit of measurement) of water is sufficient." A man said, "By Allah, this water will not be enough for me, nor for so-and-so." Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "It was sufficient for the one who had more hair than you," or he said, "Who was better than you."

(٩٣٧) ابو جعفر سیدنا جابر (رض) کے پاس تھے ، ان سیکچھ لوگوں نے غسل جنابت کے متعلق سوال کیا تو آپ نے فرمایا : صاع (پانی) کافی ہے۔ ایک شخص نے کہا : اللہ کی قسم ! مجھے یہ پانی نا کافی رہے گا اور فلاں فلاں کو بھی۔ سیدنا جابر (رض) نے فرمایا : یہ اس شخص کو کافی تھا جس کے بال تجھ سے زیادہ تھے یا فرمایا : جو تجھ سے بہتر تھا۔
(937) Abu Ja'far Sayyidna Jabir (RA) ke pas thay, un se kuch logon ne ghusl janabat ke mutalliq sawal kiya to aap ne farmaya: Sa' (pani) kafi hai. Ek shakhs ne kaha: Allah ki qasam! mujhe ye pani na kafi rahega aur falan falan ko bhi. Sayyidna Jabir (RA) ne farmaya: Ye us shakhs ko kafi tha jis ke baal tujh se ziada thay ya farmaya: Jo tujh se behtar tha.
(938) (a) It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidah 'Aishah (ra) that her foster-brother asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the ghusl (ritual bath) of janabah (state of major impurity). He called for a sa' of water and performed ghusl, pouring water over his head three times. (b) Shu'bah said: The amount of a sa'. (c) In Sahih Muslim, this narration is reported from Shu'bah with the addition of these words: "There was a curtain between us and her (Sayyidah 'Aishah (ra))."

(٩٣٨) (الف) سیدہ عائشہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ ان کے رضاعی بھائی نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے غسل جنابت کے متعلق سوال کیا تو انھوں نے ایک صاع کے بقدر پانی منگوایا اور غسل کیا اور اپنے سر پر تین مرتبہ پانی ڈالا۔ (ب) شعبہ کہتے ہیں کہ صاع کی مقدار کے برابر۔ (ج) صحیح مسلم میں یہ روایت شعبہ سے منقول ہے، اس میں یہ الفاظ زائد ہیں کہ ہمارے اور ان (سیدہ عائشہ (رض) ) کے درمیان پردہ تھا۔
