Chapter on Prohibition of Drinking from Gold and Silver Vessels
باب المنع من الشرب في آنية الذهب والفضة
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 99
(99) Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The one who drinks from vessels of gold pours fire from Hell into his belly."
(b) It was narrated from Nafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The one who eats and drinks from vessels of gold and silver…”

(٩٩) ام المؤمنین سیدہ ام سلمہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” وہ شخص جو سونے کی برتن میں پیتا ہے تو وہ اپنے پیٹ میں جنم کی آگ انڈیلتا ہے۔ “
(ب) حضرت نافع (رح) سے روایت ہے کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” بیشک وہ شخص جو سونے چاندی کے برتنوں میں کھاتا اور پیتا ہے۔ “
Um ul Momineen Sayyida Umme Salma (RA) se riwayat hai ke Nabi (SAW) ne farmaya: "Woh shakhs jo sone ke bartan mein peeta hai to woh apne pet mein jahannam ki aag undelta hai."
(b) Hazrat Nafe (RA) se riwayat hai ke Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: "Beshak woh shakhs jo sone chandi ke bartanon mein khata aur peeta hai."
Narrated Bara bin Azib (رضي الله تعالى عنه): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prohibited us from seven things: Wearing gold rings, gold bangles, all kinds of thick and thin silk, pure red clothes, clothes made of silk brocade, and using silver utensils.

(١٠٠) حضرت براء بن عازب (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ہمیں سات چیزوں سے منع کیا ہے : ہمیں سونے کی انگوٹھی، سونے کے کنگن، ہر قسم کے موٹے اور باریک ریشم، خالص سرخ کپڑے، ٹسر کے بنے ہوئے کپڑے اور چاندی کے برتن (کے استعمال) سے منع کیا۔
Hazrat Bara bin Aazib (RA) se riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne humain saat cheezon se mana kiya hai : humain sone ki angoothi, sone ke kangan, har qisam ke mote aur bareek resham, khalis surkh kapre, tasar ke bane hue kapre aur chandi ke bartan (ke istemal) se mana kiya.
(101) In the narration from Ash'ath, these words are added: "And we were forbidden from drinking in silver vessels. Whoever drinks in it (silver vessel) in this world will not drink in it in the Hereafter."

(١٠١) حضرت اشعث سے جو روایت ہے اس میں یہ الفاظ زیادہ ہیں اور ہمیں چاندی کے برتن میں پینے سے منع کیا، جو دنیا میں اس برتن میں پیتا ہے تو وہ آخرت میں اس (برتن) میں نہیں پیے گا۔
(101) Hazrat Ashas se jo riwayat hai us mein ye alfaaz ziada hain aur humain chandi ke bartan mein peene se mana kiya jo duniya mein is bartan mein peeta hai to wo akhirat mein is (bartan) mein nahi piye ga.
Hadith narrated by Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) that he cultivated land in Madain. A farmer brought him a silver vessel. He threw it aside. The narrator said that Hudhayfah was a man of strict nature. He said: I apologize to you for (using) it. I went to him, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood between us and forbade us from drinking from vessels of gold and silver, and he forbade us from wearing silk, whether thick or thin, and he said: "It is for them (the disbelievers) in this world, and it will be for you in the Hereafter."

(١٠٢) حضرت حذیفہ بن یمان (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ انھوں نے مدائن میں کھیتی باڑی کی تو ان کے پاس ایک کسان چاندی کا برتن لے کر آیا۔ انھوں نے ایک طرف پھینک دیا ۔ راوی کہتا ہے کہ حضرت حذیفہ سخت طبیعت کے مالک تھے۔ آپ نے فرمایا : میں تم سے اس (کے استعمال) سے معذرت خواہ ہوں، میں اس کی طرف گیا اور رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ہمارے درمیان کھڑے ہوئے اور ہمیں سونے چاندی کے برتنوں میں پینے سے منع کیا اور ہمیں ریشم پہننے سے خواہ موٹا ہو یا باریک منع کیا اور فرمایا : وہ ان (کافروں) کے لیے دنیا میں ہے اور تمہارے لیے آخرت میں ہے۔
Hazrat Huzaifa bin Yaman (RA) se riwayat hai ki unhon ne Mada'in mein kheti baari ki to unke paas ek kisaan chandi ka bartan lekar aaya. Unhon ne ek taraf phenk diya. Ravi kehta hai ki Hazrat Huzaifa sakht tabiyat ke malik thay. Aap ne farmaya: mein tumse is (ke istemal) se muazrat khwah hun, mein iski taraf gaya aur Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) humare darmiyaan kharay huye aur hamein sone chandi ke bartan mein peene se mana kiya aur hamein resham pehenne se khawah mota ho ya bareek mana kiya aur farmaya: woh un (kafiron) ke liye duniya mein hai aur tumhare liye aakhirat mein hai.
