Chapter on Inserting the Right Hand into the Vessel and Rinsing for Gargling and Sniffing

Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 217
Hamran, who was a freed slave of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: "I saw Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) performing ablution. He poured water from the utensil over his hands and washed them three times. Then he poured water with his right hand, rinsed his mouth and sniffed water into his nose. Then he washed his face three times and washed his hands including his elbows. Then he said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) performing ablution like this. Whoever performs ablution like my ablution and then prays two rak'ahs without any worldly thoughts in his heart, his previous sins will be forgiven.'"

(٢١٧) حمران جو سیدنا عثمان (رض) کے آزاد کردہ غلام ہیں فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے عثمان بن عفان (رض) کو وضو کرتے ہوئے دیکھا تو انھوں نے برتن سے اپنے ہاتھ پر پانی ڈالا، پھر ان دونوں کو تین مرتبہ دھویا، پھر اپنے دائیں ہاتھ پانی میں ڈالا، پھر کلی کی اور ناک میں پانی چڑھایا، پھر اپنے چہرے کو تین مرتبہ دھویا اور اپنے ہاتھوں کو اپنی کہنیوں سمیت دھویا، پھر فرمایا کہ میں نے رسول اللہ کو اسی طرح وضو کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے، جس شخص نے میرے وضو جیسا وضو کیا، اس کے بعد دو رکعتیں پڑھیں اور اس کے دل میں کوئی برا خیال پیدا نہیں ہوا تو اس کے پچھلے گناہ معاف کردیے جائیں گے۔
Humran jo Sayyidna Usman (RA) ke azad kardah ghulam hain farmate hain ki maine Usman bin Affan (RA) ko wazu karte huye dekha to unhon ne bartan se apne hath per pani dala, phir un donon ko teen martaba dhoya, phir apne dayen hath pani mein dala, phir kulli ki aur nak mein pani charhaya, phir apne chehre ko teen martaba dhoya aur apne hathon ko apni kahniyon samet dhoya, phir farmaya ki maine Rasul Allah ko isi tarah wazu karte huye dekha hai, jis shakhs ne mere wazu jaisa wazu kiya, uske baad do rakaten parhin aur uske dil mein koi bura khayal paida nahin hua to uske pichle gunah maaf kar diye jayenge.
Ata' ibn Yazid reported a statement similar to the previous one, saying: "Then he (the Prophet) put his right hand in the water for ablution, then rinsed his mouth and poured water into his nose."

(٢١٩) عطاء بن یزید نے پچھلی روایت کے ہم معنی بیان کیا ہے، فرماتے ہیں : پھر آپ نے اپنا دایاں ہاتھ وضو کے پانی میں داخل کیا، پھر کلی کی اور ناک میں پانی چڑھایا۔
(219) Ata bin Yazid ne pichli riwayat ke hum mani bayan kya hai, farmate hain : phir aap ne apna dayan hath wazu ke pani mein dakhil kya, phir kuli ki aur nak mein pani charhaya.
Narrated Hamran, the freed slave of 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him): 'Uthman bin 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) called for water, poured it over his hands, and washed them thrice. Then he put his right hand in the utensil, rinsed his mouth, poured water into his nose (inhaling it) and blew it out. He washed his face thrice and then washed his forearms up to the elbows thrice. Then he wiped his head and washed each of his feet thrice. Then he said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) performing ablution like this ablution of mine." He then said, "Whoever performs ablution like this ablution of mine and then offers two rak'ahs of prayer without talking to himself, his previous sins will be forgiven."

(٢٢٠) سیدنا عثمان (رض) کے آزاد کردہ غلام حمران سے روایت ہے کہ سیدنا عثمان بن عفان (رض) نے پانی منگوایا۔ پھر برتن سے پانی اپنے ہاتھ پر ڈالا۔ پھر اس کو تین مرتبہ دھویا، پھر اپنا دائیں ہاتھ پانی میں ڈالا، پھر کلی کی اور ناک میں پانی چڑھایا اور ناک جھاڑا۔ پھر اپنے چہرے کو تین مرتبہ دھویا اور اپنے ہاتھوں کو کہنیوں سمیت تین مرتبہ دھویا، پھر اپنے سرکا مسح کیا، پھر دونوں پاؤں کو تین مرتبہ دھویا، پھر فرمایا : میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھا ہے، آپ میرے اس وضو کی طرح وضو کیا کرتے تھے، پھر فرمایا : جس نے میرے اس وضو کی طرح کیا، پھر کھڑے ہو کر دو رکعتیں پڑھیں، اس کے دل میں کوئی برا خیال پیدا نہیں ہوا تو اس کے پہلے گناہ معاف کردیے جائیں گے۔
(220) Syedna Usman (RA) ke azad kardah ghulam Hamran se riwayat hai ki Syedna Usman bin Affan (RA) ne pani mangwaya. Phir bartan se pani apne hath per dala. Phir us ko teen martaba dhoya, phir apna dayen hath pani mein dala, phir kuly ki aur nak mein pani charhaya aur nak jhara. Phir apne chehre ko teen martaba dhoya aur apne hathon ko kahniyon samet teen martaba dhoya, phir apne sar ka masah kiya, phir donon paon ko teen martaba dhoya, phir farmaya : mein ne Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko dekha hai, aap mere is wazu ki tarah wazu karte thay, phir farmaya : jis ne mere is wazu ki tarah kiya, phir kharay ho kar do rakatein parhin, us ke dil mein koi bura khayal paida nahin hua to us ke pehle gunah maaf kar diye jayenge.
