Jabir bin Abdullah narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Smiling does not invalidate prayer, but laughing out loud does."

(٣٣٦٠) جابر بن عبداللہ سے روایت ہے کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : مسکرانے سے نماز فاسد نہیں ہوتی لیکن قہقہہ لگانے سے نماز ٹوٹ جاتی ہے۔
(3360) Jabir bin Abdullah se riwayat hai keh aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: muskuranay se namaz fasid nahi hoti lekin qahqaha lagane se namaz toot jati hai.
(3361) (a) Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: During a battle, we were offering prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) smiled during the prayer. When he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the prayer, we said: "O Messenger of Allah! We saw you smiling." He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Jibreel (peace be upon him) passed by me. There were traces of dust on his wings, and he was returning from seeking [knowledge] for the people. He looked at me and smiled, so I smiled too."
(b) We have already mentioned in the Book of Taharah the narration of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) from Abu Sufian. It is about the person who laughed during prayer, that he should repeat the prayer but does not need to repeat the ablution.
(c) We have also mentioned in the narration of Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that whoever among you laughs, let him repeat the prayer. A similar narration is also reported from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).

(٣٣٦١) (ا) جابر بن عبداللہ (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں : ایک غزوہ میں ہم رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ نماز پڑھ رہے تھے، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) دوران نماز مسکرائے۔ جب آپ نے نماز اپنی مکمل کی تو ہم نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! ہم نے آپ کو مسکراتے دیکھا ہے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : میرے پاس سے میکائیکل (علیہ السلام) گزرے، ان کے پروں پر گرد و غبار کے نشان تھے اور وہ لوگوں کی طلب سے واپس آرہے تھے۔ وہ میری طرف دیکھ کر ہنسے تو میں بھی مسکرا دیا۔
(ب) ہم کتاب الطہارہ میں ابوسفیان سے جابر (رض) کی روایت بیان کرچکے ہیں۔ یہ اس شخص کے بارے میں ہے جو نماز میں ہنسا تھا۔ یعنی وہ نماز کو لوٹائے لیکن وضو کے اعادہ کی ضرورت نہیں۔
(ج) ہم ابو موسیٰ اشعری (رض) سے ان سے منقول قصہ میں بھی بیان کرچکے ہیں کہ تم میں سے جو ہنسے تو وہ نماز لوٹا لے۔ اسی طرح کی روایت ابن مسعود (رض) سے بھی ہے۔
(3361) (a) Jabir bin Abdullah (RA) bayan karte hain : Ek ghazwa mein hum Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sath namaz parh rahe the, Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) dauran namaz muskurae. Jab Aap ne namaz apni mukmmal ki to humne kaha : Aye Allah ke Rasool ! Humne Aap ko muskurate dekha hai Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : Mere pass se Mikaeel (Alaihissalam) guzre, un ke paron par gard o ghubar ke nishan the aur wo logon ki talab se wapas aa rahe the. Wo meri taraf dekh kar hanse to main bhi muskura diya.
(b) Hum kitab al-Taharah mein Abu Sufian se Jabir (RA) ki riwayat bayan kar chuke hain. Yeh us shakhs ke bare mein hai jo namaz mein hansa tha. Yaani wo namaz ko lautaye lekin wuzu ke iada ki zaroorat nahin.
(c) Hum Abu Musa Ashari (RA) se unse manqool qissa mein bhi bayan kar chuke hain ki tum mein se jo hanse to wo namaz lauta le. Isi tarah ki riwayat Ibn Masud (RA) se bhi hai.
