Chapter: The Tradition of Performing the Eclipse Prayer in the Congregational Mosque

باب سنة صلاة الخسوف في المسجد الجامع

Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 6369

(6369) (a) Urwah ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), that when a solar eclipse occurred during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out to the mosque. (b) Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), Samurah ibn Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) and Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) all narrated that his (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayer took place in the mosque.

(٦٣٦٩) (الف) عروہ بن زبیر (رض) نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی بیوی عائشہ (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی زندگی میں سورج گرہن ہوا تو نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) مسجد کی طرف آئے۔ (ب) ابو موسیٰ اشعری (رض) ‘ ابو بکرہ (رض) ‘ سمرۃ بن جندب (رض) ‘ اسماء بنت ابی بکر (رض) یہ تمام فرماتے ہیں کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی نماز مسجد میں ہوتی تھی۔

(6369) (alif) Urwah bin Zubair (rz) Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki biwi Ayesha (rz) se naql farmate hain ke Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki zindagi mein sooraj grahan hua to Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) masjid ki taraf aaye. (be) Abu Musa Ashari (rz) ‘ Abu Bakrah (rz) ‘ Samrah bin Jundub (rz) ‘ Asma bint Abi Bakr (rz) ye tamam farmate hain ke aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki namaz masjid mein hoti thi.

٦٣٦٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْمُزَكِّي، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ،ثنا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ:قُرِئَ عَلَى ابْنِ وَهْبٍ: أَخْبَرَكَ يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ،عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ:أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ،عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ:" خَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فِي حَيَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ ". وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ. أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ، وَأَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَنْبَسَةَ عَنْ يُونُسَ. وَرَوَاهُ أَبُو مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيُّ، وَأَبُو بَكْرَةَ، وَسَمُرَةُ بْنُ جُنْدُبٍ، وَأَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ

Abdullah bin Masud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that when a solar eclipse occurred during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), people said: “This has happened because of the death of Ibrahim.” So, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to the mosque, led the people in prayer, and said: “O people! The sun and the moon are not eclipsed because of the death or life of anyone. When you see this, hasten to prayer.”

(٦٣٧٠) عبداللہ بن مسعود (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے دور میں سورج گرہن لگا تو لوگ کہنے لگے : یہ ابراہیم کی موت کی وجہ سے ہوا ہے، پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) مسجد میں آئے ‘ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائی اور فرمایا : اے لوگو ! سورج اور چاند کو گرہن کسی کی موت یا زندگی کی وجہ سے نہیں لگتا، جب تم یہ دیکھو تو نماز کی طرف جلدی کیا کرو۔

(6370) Abdullah bin Masood (RA) farmate hain ke Nabi (SAW) ke dor mein sooraj grahan laga to log kahne lage: Yeh Ibrahim ki mout ki waja se hua hai, phir aap (SAW) masjid mein aaye ‘ logon ko namaz parhayi aur farmaya: Aye logo! Suraj aur chand ko grahan kisi ki mout ya zindagi ki waja se nahi lagta, jab tum yeh dekho to namaz ki taraf jaldi kiya karo.

٦٣٧٠ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْإِيَادِيُّ الْمَالِكِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْخُرَاسَانِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزِّبْرِقَانِ، أنبأ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، ثنا حَبِيبُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَالشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ،عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ:" انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالُوا إِنَّمَا انْكَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ،فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَقَالَ:"يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَافْزَعُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ "
