Chapter: Recommended to Wash the Deceased in a Shirt
باب ما يستحب من غسل الميت في قميص
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 6621
Narrated Aisha (RA): When it was intended to give a bath to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), the people differed. Some said: The clothes of the Prophet (ﷺ) should be taken off as we take off the clothes of our dead. So Allah caused them to fall into slumber till none of them remained but his chin was sticking to his chest due to sleep, and a speaker from the corner of the house said: "And they know not what it is." Give a bath to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in the state that you (ﷺ) are in your clothes over the cleanness of your body. So they gave a bath to him (ﷺ) while his shirt was on his body and they were pouring water over it, and rubbing it from above. Aisha (RA) said: By Allah! If I were to find any man advancing towards me, I would never have retreated nor would have given a bath to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) but the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ).

(٦٦٢١) سیدہ عائشہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے غسل کا ارادہ کیا گیا تو قوم نے اختلاف کیا ۔ کچھ نے کہا کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے لباس کو اتارا جائے جیسے ہم اپنے فوت ہونے والوں کا لباس اتارتے ہیں تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان پر اونگھ نازل کردی یہاں تک کہ ان میں سے کوئی بھی نہیں تھا مگر نیند کی وجہ سے اس کی ٹھوڑی اس کی چھاتی کے ساتھ لگی ہوئی تھی اور گھر کے کونے میں سے ایک کہنے والے نے کہا : ” اور وہ نہیں جانتے تھے کہ وہ کیا ہے “ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو غسل دو اس حال میں کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے کپڑے آپ کے جسدا طہر پر ہوں۔ پھر انھوں نے آپ کو غسل دیا اس حال میں کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی قمیض آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے جسم پر تھی اور اس پر وہ پانی ڈال رہے تھے ۔ اوپر سے ہی مل رہے تھے ۔ عائشہ (رض) کہتی ہیں : اللہ کی قسم ! اگر میں کسی آدمی کو اپنی طرف آتے ہوئے پاتی تو میں پیچھے نہ ہٹتی اور نہیں غسل دیا رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو مگر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی ازواج نے ہی۔
(6621) Syeda Ayesha (RA) se riwayat hai ki jab Rasool Allah (SAW) ke ghusl ka irada kiya gaya to qaum ne ikhtilaf kiya. Kuch ne kaha ki aap (SAW) ke libas ko utara jaye jaise hum apne foot hone walon ka libas utarte hain to Allah Ta'ala ne un per ungh nazil kardi yahan tak ki un mein se koi bhi nahin tha magar neend ki wajah se us ki thori us ki chhati ke sath lagi hui thi aur ghar ke kone mein se ek kehne wale ne kaha: "Aur woh nahin jante the ki woh kya hai" Rasool Allah (SAW) ko ghusl do is hal mein ki aap (SAW) ke kapre aap ke jism e tahir par hon. Phir unhon ne aap ko ghusl diya is hal mein ki aap (SAW) ki qameez aap (SAW) ke jism par thi aur us par woh pani daal rahe the. Upar se hi mil rahe the. Ayesha (RA) kehti hain: Allah ki qasam! Agar mein kisi aadmi ko apni taraf aate huye pati to mein peeche na hat-ti aur nahin ghusl diya Rasool Allah (SAW) ko magar aap (SAW) ki azwaj ne hi.
Abdullah bin Zubair narrated that he heard from Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and she narrated the whole narration except that she said they gave a bath to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was wearing a shirt. They poured water over the shirt and were rubbing his (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) body along with the shirt, without using their hands.

(٦٦٢٢) عبداللہ بن زبیر کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے سیدہ عائشہ (رض) سے سنا، وہ کہتی تھیں اور وہ پوری حدیث کو بیان کیا سوائے اس کے کہ انھوں نے کہا کہ انھوں نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو غسل دیا اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر قمیض تھی۔ وہ قمیض کے اوپر سے پانی بہا رہے تھے اور قمیض کے ساتھ ہی جسم کو مل رہے تھے بغیر ہاتھوں کے۔
Abdullah bin Zubair kehte hain ki maine Sayyida Ayesha (RA) se suna, woh kehti thi aur woh poori hadees ko bayan kiya siwaye iske ki unhon ne kaha ki unhon ne aap (SAW) ko ghusl diya aur aap (SAW) par qameez thi. Woh qameez ke upar se pani baha rahe the aur qameez ke sath hi jism ko mil rahe the baghair hathon ke.
Ibn Buraida reported from his father that when the matter of washing the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came up, a caller called from inside the house, saying, "Do not remove the shirt of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)."

(٦٦٢٣) ابن بریدہ اپنے باپ سے بیان کرتے ہیں کہ جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے غسل کا معاملہ پیش آیا تو ان کو اندر ہی سے ایک آواز دینے والے نے آواز دی کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی قمیض نہ اتارو۔
6623 Ibn Buraidah apne baap se bayan karte hain ki jab Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke ghusl ka mamla pesh aaya to unko andar hi se ek aawaz dene wale ne aawaz di ki Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki qameez na utaro.
