Chapter on what Allah the Almighty commanded him to respond to evil with that which is better, saying: {Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better}
باب ما أمره الله تعالى به من أن يدفع بالتي هي أحسن السيئة، فقال: {ادفع بالتي هي أحسن}
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 13298
(13298) {And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better} Abu Jahl (may Allah curse him) used to harm the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) disliked him. So Allah commanded His Prophet to be patient and to forgive. He said: When you do this, "the one between whom and you is enmity" - meaning Abu Jahl - "will become your close friend", meaning he will become a well-wisher and treat you with kindness, as if he is concerned about your kinship and showing you compassion.

(١٣٢٩٨) { وَلاَ تَسْتَوِی الْحَسَنَۃُ وَلاَ السَّیَِّٔۃُادْفَعْ بِالَّتِیْ ہِیَ اَحْسَنُ } ابوجہل (اللہ تعالیٰ اس پر لعنت کرے) وہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو تکلیف دیتا تھا، نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اس کو ناپسند کرتے تھے تو اللہ پاک نے اپنے نبی کو یہ حکم دیا کہ صبر اور درگزر کرو ۔ فرمایا : جب آپ یہ کرلیں گے تو ” وہ شخص جس کے اور آپ کے درمیان دشمنی ہے “ یعنی ابوجہل وہ آپ کا دنیا میں دوست بن جائے گا اور حمیم ہوگا یعنی آپ کے نسب کا خیال کر کے آپ پر شفقت کرے گا۔
(13298) { wala tastawi alhasanatu wala assayyiatu idfaAA bilati hiya ahsanu } abu jahl (Allah ta'ala is par la'nat kare) woh nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko takleef deta tha, nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) is ko napasand karte the to Allah pak ne apne nabi ko yeh hukum diya ke sabar aur darguzar karo . farmaya : jab aap yeh karlenge to ” woh shakhs jis ke aur aap ke darmiyaan dushmani hai “ yani abu jahl woh aap ka duniya mein dost ban jaye ga aur hameem hoga yani aap ke nasab ka khayal kar ke aap par shafqat kare ga.
١٣٢٩٨ - أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْإِمَامُ، أنبأ عَبْدُ الْخَالِقِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، عَنِ الْهُذَيْلِ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ،فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى:{وَلَا تَسْتَوِي الْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا السَّيِّئَةُ ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ}[فصلت: ٣٤]، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ أَبَا جَهْلٍ لَعَنَهُ اللهُ كَانَ يُؤْذِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَهُ مُبْغِضًا يَكْرَهُ رُؤْيَتَهُ، فَأَمَرَهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى بِالْعَفْوِ وَالصَّفْحِ،يَقُولُ:فَإِذَا فَعَلْتَ ذَلِكَ فَإِذَا الَّذِي بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَدَاوَةٌ يَعْنِي أَبَا جَهْلٍ كَأَنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَمِيمٌ لَكَ فِي النَّسَبِ الشَّفِيقُ عَلَيْكَ،وَقَالَ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى:{ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ السَّيِّئَةَ}[المؤمنون: ٩٦]نَزَلَتْ فِي النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي جَهْلٍ حِينَ جَهِلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "
