Chapter: The slave can be written for as long as he has a remaining dirham.
باب: المكاتب عبد ما بقي عليه درهم
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 21647
'Abdur-Rahman bin Qasim narrates from his father that the Mothers of the Believers would not observe hijab from their indentured servants (mukatab) until they had paid a dirham (as part of their manumission agreement). When they would pay the money, then they (the Mothers of the Believers) would observe hijab from them.

(٢١٦٤٧) عبدالرحمن بن قاسم اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ امہات المومنین اپنے مکاتب غلام سے پردہ نہیں کرتی تھیں، جب تک ان کے ذمہ ایک درہم بھی ہو۔ جب وہ پیسے ادا کرلیتا تو پردہ شروع کر دیتیں۔
(21647) abdul rahman bin qasim apne wald se naql farmate hain ki ummaha tul momineen apne maktab gulam se parda nahi karti thin, jab tak un ke zimma ek dirham bhi ho. jab wo paise ada karleta to parda shuru kar detin.
٢١٦٤٧ - قَالَ أنبأ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،قَالَ:" إِنْ كُنَّ أُمَّهَاتُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَيَكُونُ لِبَعْضِهِنَّ الْمُكَاتَبُ فَتَكْشِفُ لَهُ الْحِجَابَ مَا بَقِيَ عَلَيْهِ دِرْهَمٌ، فَإِذَا قَضَى أَرْخَتْهُ دُونَهُ "
