Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘a man felt very thirsty while he was on the way, there he came across a well. He went down the well, quenched his thirst and came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. He said to himself, ‘this dog is suffering from thirst as I did.’ So, he went down the well again and filled his shoe with water and watered it. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him. The people said, ‘O Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), is there a reward for us in serving the animals?’ He replied, ‘yes, there is a reward for serving any living being.
حضرت ابو ہریرہ ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ’’ایسا ہوا کہ ایک شخص راستے میں جا رہاتھا کہ اسے سخت پیاس لگی۔ اس نے ایک کنواں دیکھا تو اس میں اتر پڑا اور اپنی پیاس بجھائی۔ باہر نکلا تو کیا دیکھتا ہے کہ ایک کتا ہانپ رہا ہے اور پیاس کی شدت سے مٹی چاٹ رہا ہے۔ اس شخص نے خیال کیا کہ اسے بھی اسی طرح پیاس لگی ہے جیسے مجھے لگی تھی، چنانچہ وہ کنویں میں اترااور اپنا موزہ پانی سے بھرا، پھر وہ کتے کو پلادیا۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے اس کا عمل قبول کیا اور اسے بخش دیا۔ لوگوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول اللہ ﷺ ! کیا جانوروں کی خدمت میں بھی ہمارے لیے اجرہے؟‘‘ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ’’ہر زندہ جگر کی خدمت میں اجرو ثواب ہے۔‘‘
Hazrat Abu Huraira (radiyallahu anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) ne farmaya: ''Aisa hua ke ek shakhs raste mein ja raha tha ke ise sakht pyaas lagi. Is ne ek kunwa dekha to is mein utar para aur apni pyaas bujhayi. Bahar nikla to kya dekhta hai ke ek kutta haanp raha hai aur pyaas ki shiddat se mitti chaat raha hai. Is shakhs ne khayal kiya ke ise bhi isi tarah pyaas lagi hai jaise mujhe lagi thi, chunanche wo kunwein mein utra aur apna moza pani se bhara, phir wo kutte ko pila diya. Allah Ta'ala ne is ka amal qubool kiya aur ise bakhsh diya. Logon ne arz kiya: Allah ke Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)! Kya janwaron ki khidmat mein bhi hamare liye ajr hai?'' Aap (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) ne farmaya: ''Har zinda jigar ki khidmat mein ajr-o-sawab hai.' '
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ السَّمَّانِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَا رَجُلٌ بِطَرِيقٍ اشْتَدَّ عَلَيْهِ الْعَطَشُ فَوَجَدَ بِئْرًا فَنَزَلَ فِيهَا فَشَرِبَ ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ ، فَإِذَا كَلْبٌ يَلْهَثُ يَأْكُلُ الثَّرَى مِنَ الْعَطَشِ ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ : لَقَدْ بَلَغَ هَذَا الْكَلْبَ مِنَ الْعَطَشِ مِثْلُ الَّذِي كَانَ بَلَغَ مِنِّي ، فَنَزَلَ الْبِئْرَ فَمَلَأَ خُفَّهُ مَاءً فَسَقَى الْكَلْبَ فَشَكَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ فَغَفَرَ لَهُ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّه ، وَإِنَّ لَنَا فِي الْبَهَائِمِ لَأَجْرًا ، فَقَالَ : فِي كُلِّ ذَاتِ كَبِدٍ رَطْبَةٍ أَجْرٌ .
