Rafi bin Khadij (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that they used to work on the fields more than the other Ansar, and we used to rent the land (for the yield of a specific portion of it). But sometimes that portion or the rest of the land did not give any yield, so we were forbidden (by the Prophet ﷺ) to follow such a system, but we were allowed to rent the land for money.
حضرت رافع بن خدیج ؓ سے روایت ہے، انھوں نے فرمایا: انصار مدینہ میں سے ہم لوگ سب سے زیادہ کھیتی باڑی کرنے والے تھے اور ہم زمین بٹائی پر دیتے تھے۔ اکثر ایسا ہوتا کہ کھیت کے ایک حصے میں پیداوار ہوتی اور دوسرےمیں نہ ہوتی، اس لیے ہمیں اس سے منع کر دیا گیا لیکن نقدی کے عوض کرائے پر دینے سے منع نہیں کیا گیا۔
Hazrat Rafi bin Khadeej (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne farmaya: Ansar-e-Madinah mein se hum log sab se zyada kheti-baari karne wale thay aur hum zameen batayi par dete thay. Aksar aisa hota ke khet ke ek hisse mein paidawar hoti aur doosre mein na hoti, is liye humein is se mana kar diya gaya lekin naqdi ke iwaz kiraye par dene se mana nahi kiya gaya.
حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ حَنْظَلَةَ الزُّرَقِيَّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَافِعَ بْنَ خَدِيجٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : كُنَّا أَكْثَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ حَقْلًا فَكُنَّا نُكْرِي الْأَرْضَ ، فَرُبَّمَا أَخْرَجَتْ هَذِهِ وَلَمْ تُخْرِجْ ذِهِ ، فَنُهِينَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَلَمْ نُنْهَ عَنِ الْوَرِقِ .
