Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the delegates of the tribe of Abdul-Qais came and said, O Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), we are from the tribe of Rabi`a, and there is the infidels of the tribe of Mudar intervening between you and us, therefore we cannot come to you except in the Sacred Months. So please order us some instructions that we may apply it to ourselves and invite our people whom we left behind us to observe as well.’ The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘I order you (to do) four (things) and forbid you (to do) four. I order you to believe in Allah, that is, to testify that there is no God but Allah (the Prophet ﷺ) pointed with his hand; to offer prayers perfectly; to pay Zakat; to fast the month of Ramadan, and to pay the Khumus (one-fifth) of the war booty to Allah and I forbid you to use Ad-dubba, An-Naqir, Al-Hantam and Al-Muzaffat (utensils used for preparing alcoholic drinks).
حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ جب وفد عبدالقیس آیا توانھوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول ﷺ !ہم اس ربیعہ قبیلے سے تعلق رکھنے والے ہیں۔ ہمارے اور آپ کے درمیان کفار مضر حائل ہیں۔ ہم حرمت والے مہینوں کے علاوہ آپ کے پاس حاضر نہیں ہوسکتے۔ ہمیں کوئی ایسا(جامع) حکم بتادیں جس پر ہم بھی عمل کریں اور اپنے پیچھے رہنے والوں کو بھی اس کی دعوت دیں۔ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: "میں تمھیں چارچیزوں کاحکم دیتا ہوں اور چار باتوں سے منع کرتا ہوں: اللہ پر ایمان لانا یہ ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے ایک ہونے کی گواہی دی جائے۔ آپ نے اپنے ہاتھ سے ایک گرہ لگائی(کہ ایک تو یہ ہے اور باقی یہ ہیں:)۔ ۔ ۔ نماز پڑھنا، زکاۃ ادا کرنا، ماہ رمضان کے روزے رکھنا اور جو تم مال غنیمت حاصل کرو اس سے خمس اداکرنا اورتمھیں کدو، فقیر، حنتم اورمزفت میں نبیذ بنانے سے منع کرتا ہوں۔ "
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, woh kehte hain ke jab wafd-e-Abdul Qais aaya to unhon ne arz kiya: Allah ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Hum is Rabia qabile se taluq rakhne wale hain. Hamare aur aap ke darmiyan kuffar-e-Mudar hayil hain. Hum hurmat wale mahino ke elawa aap ke paas hazir nahi ho sakte. Humhein koi aisa ( جامع ) hukm bata dein jis par hum bhi amal karein aur apne peeche rehne walon ko bhi is ki dawat dein. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Main tumhein chaar cheezon ka hukm deta hoon aur chaar baaton se mana karta hoon: Allah par iman lana ye hai ke Allah Ta'ala ke ek hone ki gawahi di jaye. Aap ne apne hath se ek girah lagayi (ke ek to ye hai aur baqi ye hain): Namaz parhna, zakat ada karna, mah-e-Ramzan ke roze rakhna aur jo tum maal-e-ghanimat hasil karo us se khumus ada karna; aur tumhein kaddu, naqeer, hantam aur muzaffat mein nabeed banane se mana karta hoon."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَمْرَةَ الضُّبَعِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، يَقُولُ : قَدِمَ وَفْدُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ ، فَقَالُوا : رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّا هَذَا الْحَيَّ مِنْ رَبِيعَةَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ كُفَّارُ مُضَرَ فَلَسْنَا نَصِلُ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا فِي الشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ ، فَمُرْنَا بِأَمْرٍ نَأْخُذُ بِهِ وَنَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ مَنْ وَرَاءَنَا ، قَالَ : آمُرُكُمْ بِأَرْبَعٍ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ الْإِيمَانِ بِاللَّهِ ، شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، وَعَقَدَ بِيَدِهِ ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ ، وَصِيَامِ رَمَضَانَ ، وَأَنْ تُؤَدُّوا لِلَّهِ خُمُسَ مَا غَنِمْتُمْ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ ، وَالنَّقِيرِ ، وَالْحَنْتَمِ ، وَالْمُزَفَّتِ .
