Chapter: Delay of the fighting
١١٢
بَابُ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا لَمْ يُقَاتِلْ أَوَّلَ النَّهَارِ أَخَّرَ الْقِتَالَ حَتَّى تَزُولَ الشَّمْسُ
Sahih al-Bukhari 2966
And then he got up among the people and said, O people! Do not wish to face the enemy (in a battle) and ask Allah to save you (from calamities) but if you should face the enemy, then be patient and let it be known to you that Paradise is under the shades of swords. He then said,, O Allah! The Revealer of the (Holy) Book, the Mover of the clouds, and Defeater of Al-Ahzab (i.e. the clans of infidels), defeat them infidels and bestow victory upon us.
حضرت عبد اللہ بن ابی اوفیٰ ؓ ہی سے روایت ہے کہ پھر آپ ﷺ لوگوں میں کھڑے ہوئے اور فرمایا: ’’لوگو! دشمن سے مقابلے کی آرزونہ کرو بلکہ اللہ تعالیٰ سے عافیت مانگو۔ لیکن اگر دشمن سے مقابلہ ہو تو صبر کرو اورخوب جان لو کہ جنت تلواروں کے سائے تلے ہے۔‘‘ پھر آپ نے یوں دعا کی: ’’اے اللہ! کتاب کے نازل کرنے والے، بادلوں کو چلانے والے، (کافروں کے)لشکروں کو شکست دینے والے، انھیں شکست دے اور ان کے خلاف ہماری مدد فرما۔‘‘
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Aufa (Radi Allahu Anhu) hi se riwayat hai ke phir Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) logon mein kharay hue aur farmaya: "Logo! Dushman se muqable ki aarzoo na karo balkey Allah Ta'ala se aafiyat maango. Lekin agar dushman se muqabla ho to sabr karo aur khoob jaan lo ke jannat talwaron ke saye talay hai." Phir Aap ne yun dua ki: "Ae Allah! Kitab ke nazil karne wale, baadlon ko chalane wale, (kafiron ke) lashkaron ko shikast dene wale, inhein shikast de aur in ke khilaf hamari madad farma."
ثُمَّ قَامَ فِي النَّاسِ خَطِيبًا ، قَالَ : أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ لَا تَتَمَنَّوْا لِقَاءَ الْعَدُوِّ وَسَلُوا اللَّهَ الْعَافِيَةَ ، فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فَاصْبِرُوا وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ تَحْتَ ظِلَالِ السُّيُوفِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ مُنْزِلَ الْكِتَابِ ، وَمُجْرِيَ السَّحَابِ ، وَهَازِمَ الْأَحْزَابِ اهْزِمْهُمْ ، وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ .
