Sahih al-Bukhari 4207
Narrated Sahl: During one of his Ghazawat, the Prophet encountered the pagans, and the two armies fought, and then each of them returned to their army camps. Amongst the (army of the) Muslims there was a man who would follow every pagan separated from the army and strike him with his sword. It was said, O Allah's Apostle! None has fought so satisfactorily as so-and-so (namely, that brave Muslim). The Prophet said, He is from the dwellers of the Hell-Fire. The people said, Who amongst us will be of the dwellers of Paradise if this (man) is from the dwellers of the Hell-Fire? Then a man from amongst the people said, I will follow him and accompany him in his fast and slow movements. The (brave) man got wounded, and wanting to die at once, he put the handle of his sword on the ground and its tip in between his breasts, and then threw himself over it, committing suicide. Then the man (who had watched the deceased) returned to the Prophet and said, I testify that you are Apostle of Allah. The Prophet said, What is this? The man told him the whole story. The Prophet said, A man may do what may seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of Paradise, but he is of the dwellers of the Hell-Fire and a man may do what may seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of the Hell-Fire, but he is from the dwellers of Paradise.
حضرت سہل بن سعد ؓ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے کہا کہ نبی ﷺ اور مشرکین کا ایک غزوے میں سخت مقابلہ ہوا۔ دونوں جم کر لڑے۔ پھر ہر فریق اپنے اپنے لشکر کی طرف چلا گیا۔ اس دوران میں مسلمانوں میں ایک ایسا آدمی تھا جو مشرکین کے کسی الگ ہونے والے اور تنہا رہنے والے شخص کو نہیں چھوڑتا تھا۔ وہ اس کے پیچھے لگ جاتا اور اپنی تلوار سے اسے قتل کر دیتا تھا۔ کہا گیا: اللہ کے رسول! کسی نے وہ کام نہیں کیا جو فلاں نے کیا ہے۔ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ’’وہ تو جہنمی ہے۔‘‘ صحابہ کرام ؓ نے کہا: اگر وہ دوزخی ہے تو پھر ہم میں سے کون جنتی ہو گا؟ لوگوں میں سے ایک شخص نے کہا: میں ضرور اس کا پیچھا کروں گا۔ وہ تیز دوڑے یا آہستہ چلے میں ضرور اس کے ساتھ رہوں گا، حتی کہ وہ جب زخمی ہوا اور جلدی مرنا چاہا تو اپنی تلوار کا دستہ زمین پر رکھا اوراس کی تیز نوک دار دھار اپنے سینے کے درمیان رکھی، پھر اس پر اپنا بوجھ ڈالا اور اس طرح اس نے خودکشی کر لی۔ اس کا پیچھا کرنے والا شخص نبی ﷺ کے پاس آیا اور عرض کرنے لگا: میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ آپ اللہ کے رسول ہیں، آپ نے فرمایا: ’’کیا بات ہے؟‘‘ اس نے تمام واقعہ آپ سے بیان کیا تو آپ نے فرمایا: ’’بےشک ایک آدمی لوگوں کے سامنے اہل جنت کے عمل کرتا ہے، حالانکہ وہ جہنمی ہوتا ہے۔ اسی طرح کوئی شخص لوگوں کی نظروں میں اہل جہنم کے عمل کرتا ہے، حالانکہ وہ جنتی ہوتا ہے۔‘‘
Hazrat Sahl bin Sa'd (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne kaha ke Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) aur mushrikeen ka ek ghazwe mein sakht muqabla hua. Donon jam kar lare. Phir har fareeq apne apne lashkar ki taraf chala gaya. Is dauran mein Musalmanon mein ek aisa aadmi tha jo mushrikeen ke kisi alag hone wale aur tanha rehne wale shakhs ko nahi chhorta tha. Wo is ke peeche lag jata aur apni talwar se ise qatl kar deta tha. Kaha gaya: Allah ke Rasul! kisi ne wo kaam nahi kiya jo falan ne kiya hai. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Wo to jahannami hai." Sahaba-e-Kiram (Radi Allahu Anhum) ne kaha: Agar wo dozakhi hai to phir hum mein se kaun jannati hoga? Logon mein se ek shakhs ne kaha: Main zaroor is ka peecha karunga. Wo tez daure ya aahista chale main zaroor is ke saath rahunga, hatta ke wo jab zakhmi hua aur jaldi marna chaha to apni talwar ka dasta zameen par rakha aur us ki tez noke-dar dhaar apne seene ke darmiyan rakhi, phir is par apna bojh dala aur is tarah us ne khudkushi kar li. Is ka peecha karne wala shakhs Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke paas aaya aur arz karne laga: Main gawahi deta hon ke aap Allah ke Rasul hain, aap ne farmaya: "Kya baat hai?" Us ne tamam waqia aap se bayan kiya to aap ne farmaya: "Beshak ek aadmi logon ke saamne ahl-e-jannat ke amal karta hai, halanke wo jahannami hota hai. Isi tarah koi shakhs logon ki nazron mein ahl-e-jahannam ke amal karta hai, halanke wo jannati hota hai."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ سَهْلٍ ، قَالَ : الْتَقَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْمُشْرِكُونَ فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِيهِ فَاقْتَتَلُوا ، فَمَالَ كُلُّ قَوْمٍ إِلَى عَسْكَرِهِمْ ، وَفِي الْمُسْلِمِينَ رَجُلٌ لَا يَدَعُ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ شَاذَّةً وَلَا فَاذَّةً إِلَّا اتَّبَعَهَا فَضَرَبَهَا بِسَيْفِهِ ، فَقِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا أَجْزَأَ أَحَدٌ مَا أَجْزَأَ فُلَانٌ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ ، فَقَالُوا : أَيُّنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ إِنْ كَانَ هَذَا مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ ؟ ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ : لَأَتَّبِعَنَّهُ ، فَإِذَا أَسْرَعَ وَأَبْطَأَ كُنْتُ مَعَهُ ، حَتَّى جُرِحَ فَاسْتَعْجَلَ الْمَوْتَ ، فَوَضَعَ نِصَابَ سَيْفِهِ بِالْأَرْضِ وَذُبَابَهُ بَيْنَ ثَدْيَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ تَحَامَلَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ ، فَجَاءَ الرَّجُلُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ : وَمَا ذَاكَ ؟ ، فَأَخْبَرَهُ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فِيمَا يَبْدُو لِلنَّاسِ وَإِنَّهُ لَمِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ ، وَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فِيمَا يَبْدُو لِلنَّاسِ وَهُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ .
