The Statement of Allah: "...And We made the Qiblah (prayer direction towards Jerusalem) which you used to face, only to test those who followed the Messenger (Muhammad ) . . ." (V.2:143)

باب قَوْلِهِ {وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الْقِبْلَةَ الَّتِي كُنْتَ عَلَيْهَا إِلاَّ لِنَعْلَمَ مَنْ يَتَّبِعُ الرَّسُولَ مِمَّنْ يَنْقَلِبُ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ لَكَبِيرَةً إِلاَّ عَلَى الَّذِينَ هَدَى اللَّهُ وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَانَكُمْ

Sahih al-Bukhari 4488
Ibn Umar ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that while some people were offering Fajr prayer in the Quba’ mosque, some-one came and said, ‘Allah has revealed to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Qur’anic instructions that you should face the Ka`ba (while praying) so you too, should face it.’ Those people then turned towards the Ka`ba.
حضرت ابن عمر ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ لوگ مسجد قباء میں صبح کی نماز پڑھ رہے تھے کہ ایک صاحب آئے اور انہوں نے کہا: اللہ تعالٰی نے نبی ﷺ پر قرآن نازل کیا ہے کہ آپ نماز میں کعبہ کی طرف منہ کریں، لہذا آپ حضرات بھی کعبہ کی طرف منہ کر لیں، تو سب نمازی اسی وقت کعبہ کی طرف پھر گئے۔
Hazrat Ibn Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai ke log Masjid-e-Quba mein subah ki namaz parh rahe the ke ek sahab aaye aur unhon ne kaha: Allah Ta'ala ne Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) par Quran nazil kiya hai ke Aap namaz mein Ka'ba ki taraf munh karein, lehaza aap hazrat bhi Ka'ba ki taraf munh kar lein, to sab namazi isi waqt Ka'ba ki taraf phir gaye.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ , حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا : بَيْنَا النَّاسُ يُصَلُّونَ الصُّبْحَ فِي مَسْجِدِ قُبَاءٍ إِذْ جَاءَ جَاءٍ ، فَقَالَ : أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُرْآنًا أَنْ يَسْتَقْبِلَ الْكَعْبَةَ فَاسْتَقْبِلُوهَا فَتَوَجَّهُوا إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ .
