"For every nation there is a direction to which they face (in their prayers)..." (V.2:148)

باب {وَلِكُلٍّ وِجْهَةٌ هُوَ مُوَلِّيهَا فَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَيْرَاتِ أَيْنَمَا تَكُونُوا يَأْتِ بِكُمُ اللَّهُ جَمِيعًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ}

Sahih al-Bukhari 4492
Narrated Al-Bara: We prayed along with the Prophet facing Jerusalem for sixteen or seventeen months. Then Allah ordered him to turn his face towards the Qibla (in Mecca):-- And from whence-so-ever you start forth (for prayers) turn your face in the direction of (the Sacred Mosque of Mecca) Al-Masjid-ul Haram.. (2.149)
حضرت براء ؓ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے فرمایا: ہم نے نبی ﷺ کے ہمراہ سولہ یا سترہ مہینے تک بیت المقدس کی طرف منہ کر کے نماز پڑھی، پھر اللہ تعالٰی نے آپ کو خانہ کعبہ کی طرف منہ کرنے کا حکم دیا۔
Hazrat Bara (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne farmaya: Hum ne Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke humrah solah ya satrah mahine tak Bait-ul-Maqdis ki taraf munh kar ke namaz parhi, phir Allah Ta'ala ne Aap ko Khana-e-Ka'ba ki taraf munh karne ka hukm diya.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى , حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , قَالَ : صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَ بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ أَوْ سَبْعَةَ عَشَرَ شَهْرًا ، ثُمَّ صَرَفَهُ نَحْوَ الْقِبْلَةِ .
