"Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish (i.e., don't punish them)." (V.7:199)

باب {خُذِ الْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِالْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِينَ} الْعُرْفُ: الْمَعْرُوفُ
Sahih al-Bukhari 4644
Sa`id bin Jubair narrated that he asked Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) regarding Surat-al-Anfal. He said, ‘it was revealed in connection with the Battle of Badr.’
حضرت عبداللہ بن زبیر ؓ ہی سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے کہا: اللہ تعالٰی نے اپنے نبی ﷺ کو حکم دیا ہے کہ وہ لوگوں کے اخلاق درست کرنے کے لیے درگزر سے کام لیں۔
Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair (Radi Allahu Anhu) hi se riwayat hai, unhon ne kaha: Allah Tala ne apne Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko hukm diya hai ke woh logon ke akhlaq durust karne ke liye dorguzar se kaam len.
وَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَرَّادٍ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ : أَمَرَ اللَّهُ نَبِيَّهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ الْعَفْوَ مِنْ أَخْلَاقِ النَّاسِ أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ .
