The Statement of Allah the Exalted: "And when it is said to them: 'Come, so that the Messenger of Allah may ask forgiveness from Allah for you,' they turn aside their heads, and you would see them turning away their faces in pride." (V.63:5)

باب قَوْلِهِ {وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا يَسْتَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ لَوَّوْا رُءُوسَهُمْ وَرَأَيْتَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ وَهُمْ مُسْتَكْبِرُونَ}

Sahih al-Bukhari 4904
Narrated Zaid bin Arqam: While I was with my uncle, I heard `Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul saying, Do not spend on those who are with Allah's Messenger , that they may disperse and go away (from him). And if we return to Medina, surely, the more honorable will expel therefrom the meaner. I mentioned that to my uncle who, in turn, mentioned it to the Prophet. The Prophet called me and I told him about that. Then he sent for `Abdullah bin Ubai and his companions, and they swore that they did not say so. The Prophet disbelieved my statement and believed theirs. I was distressed as I have never been before, and I remained in my house. My uncle said to me, You just wanted the Prophet to consider you a liar and hate you. Then Allah revealed:-- 'When the hypocrites come to you, they say: 'We bear witness that you are indeed the Apostle of Allah. (63.1) So the Prophet sent for me and recited it and said, Allah has confirmed your statement.
حضرت زید بن ارقم ؓ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے کہا: میں اپنے چچا کے ہمراہ تھا، اچانک میں نے عبداللہ بن ابی کو یہ کہتے ہوئے سنا: ان لوگوں پر خرچ نہ کرو جو رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پاس ہین حتی کہ وہ آپ سے منتشر ہو جائیں اور یقینا اگر ہم مدینے لوٹ کر گئے تو جو عزت والا ہو گا وہ ذلیل کو وہاں سے نکال دے گا۔ میں نے اپنے چچا سے اس کا تذکرہ کیا تو انہوں نے نبی ﷺ سے یہ باتیں کہہ دیں۔ آپ ﷺ نے عبداللہ بن ابی اور اس کے ساتھیوں کو بلایا اور پوچھا تو انہوں نے حلفا کہا: ہم نے ایسی باتیں نہیں کہی ہیں، نبی ﷺ نے مجھے جھوٹا خیال اور انہیں سچا کہا۔ اس سے مجھے سخت غم لاحق ہوا، اس جیسا غم مجھے پہلے کبھی لاحق نہیں ہوا تھا۔ میں اپنے گھر بیٹھ گیا۔ میرے چچا نے مجھ سے کہا: تو نے کیا کردار انجام دیا ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے تجھے جھٹلا دیا ہے اور تجھ سے ناراض ہو گئے ہیں؟ پھر اللہ تعالٰی نے یہ آیات نازل فر دیں: ﴿إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ﴾ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے مجھے بلایا اور فرمایا: ’’اللہ تعالٰی نے تیری تصدیق کر دی ہے۔‘‘
Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (Radiyallahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne kaha: Main apne chacha ke hamrah tha, achanak main ne Abdullah bin Ubai ko yeh kehte hue suna: In logon par kharch na karo jo Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke paas hain hatta ke woh aap se muntashir ho jayen aur yaqeenan agar hum Madine laut kar gaye to jo izzat wala ho ga woh zaleel ko wahan se nikal de ga. Main ne apne chacha se is ka tazkira kiya to unhon ne Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) se yeh baaten keh din. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne Abdullah bin Ubai aur us ke sathiyon ko bulaya aur poocha to unhon ne halafan kaha: Hum ne aaisi baaten nahi kahi hain, Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne mujhe jhoota khayal aur unhen sacha kaha. Is se mujhe sakht gham lahaq hua, is jaisa gham mujhe pehle kabhi lahaq nahi hua tha. Main apne ghar baith gaya. Mere chacha ne mujh se kaha: Tu ne kya kirdar anjam diya hai ke Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne tujhe jhutla diya hai aur tujh se naraz ho gaye hain? Phir Allah Ta'ala ne yeh aayaat nazil farma din: (Iza ja'akal-munafiqoon). Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne mujhe bulaya aur farmaya: ''Allah Ta'ala ne teri tasdeeq kar di hai.''
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ مَعَ عَمِّي ، فَسَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أُبَيٍّ ابْنَ سَلُولَ ، يَقُولُ : لَا تُنْفِقُوا عَلَى مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ حَتَّى يَنْفَضُّوا ، وَلَئِنْ رَجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ لَيُخْرِجَنَّ الْأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الْأَذَلَّ ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِعَمِّي ، فَذَكَرَ عَمِّي لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَدَعَانِي ، فَحَدَّثْتُهُ ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَيٍّ وَأَصْحَابِهِ ، فَحَلَفُوا مَا قَالُوا ، وَكَذَّبَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَصَدَّقَهُمْ ، فَأَصَابَنِي غُمٌّ لَمْ يُصِبْنِي مِثْلُهُ قَطُّ ، فَجَلَسْتُ فِي بَيْتِي ، وَقَالَ عَمِّي : مَا أَرَدْتَ إِلَى أَنْ كَذَّبَكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَقَتَكَ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ سورة المنافقون آية 1 ، قَالُوا : نَشْهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، وَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَرَأَهَا ، وَقَالَ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ صَدَّقَكَ .
