Sahih al-Bukhari 602
Abu `Uthman narrated that Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakr (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) said, "The Suffa Companions were poor people and the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, 'Whoever has food for two persons should take a third one from them (Suffa companions). And whosoever has food for four persons he should take one or two from them' Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) took three men and the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) took ten of them." Abdur Rahman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) added, my father my mother and I were there (in the house). (The sub-narrator is in doubt whether `Abdur Rahman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) also said, 'My wife and our servant who was common for both my house and Abu Bakr's - رضي الله تعالى عنهhouse). Abu Bakr ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) took his supper with the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and remained there till the `Isha' prayer was offered. Abu Bakr ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) went back and stayed with the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) till the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) took his meal and then Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) returned to his house after a long portion of the night had passed. Abu Bakr's (رضي الله تعالى عنه) wife said, 'What detained you from your guests (or guest)?' He said, 'Have you not served them yet?' She said, 'They refused to eat until you come. The food was served for them but they refused." `Abdur Rahman ( رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) added, "I went away and hid myself (being afraid of Abu Bakr -رضي الله تعالى عنه) and in the meantime he (Abu Bakr - رضئ هللاتعالی عنہ) called me, 'O Ghunthar (a harsh word)!' and also called me bad names and abused me and then said (to his family), 'Eat. No welcome for you.' Then (the supper was served). Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) took an oath that he would not eat that food. The narrator added: By Allah, whenever any one of us (myself and the guests of Suffa companions) took anything from the food, it increased from underneath. We all ate to our fill and the food was more than it was before its serving. Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) looked at it (the food) and found it as it was before serving or even more than that. He addressed his wife (saying) 'O the sister of Bani Firas ( رضي الله تعالى عنها)! What is this?' She said, 'O the pleasure of my eyes! The food is now three times more than it was before.' Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ate from it, and said, 'That (oath) was from Satan' meaning his oath (not to eat). Then he again took a morsel (mouthful) from it and then took the rest of it to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). So that meal was with the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). There was a treaty between us and some people, and when the period of that treaty had elapsed the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) divided us into twelve (groups) (the Prophet's ﷺ companions) each being headed by a man. Allah knows how many men were under the command of each (leader). So all of them (12 groups of men) ate of that meal."
حضرت عبدالرحمٰن بن ابوبکر ؓ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے فرمایا: اصحاب صفہ نادار لوگ تھے۔ نبی ﷺ نے (ان کے متعلق) فرمایا تھا: ’’جس کے پاس دو آدمیوں کا کھانا ہے، وہ تیسرا آدمی ساتھ لے جائے اور اگر چار کا ہو تو پانچواں یا چھٹا (ان میں سے لے جائے)۔‘‘ چنانچہ حضرت ابوبکر صدیق ؓ اپنے ساتھ تین آدمی لے کر گئے اور خود نبی ﷺ نے اپنے ہمراہ دس آدمیوں کو لیا۔ حضرت عبدالرحمٰن ؓ نے کہا کہ گھر میں اس وقت میں اور میرے والدین تھے۔ راوی کہتا ہے کہ مجھے یاد نہیں کہ آپ نے یہ کہا یا نہیں کہ گھر میں میری اہلیہ اور خادم بھی تھا جو میرے اور میرے والد گرامی کے گھر میں مشترکہ طور پر کام کرتا تھا۔ الغرض حضرت ابوبکر صدیق ؓ نے نبی ﷺ کے ہاں رات کا کھانا کھا لیا اور تھوڑی دیر کے لیے وہاں ٹھہر گئے، پھر عشاء کی نماز پڑھ لی گئی، لوٹ کر پھر تھوڑی دیر ٹھہرے، یہاں تک کہ نبی ﷺ نے رات کا کھانا تناول فرمایا۔ اس کے بعد آپ کافی رات گئے اپنے گھر واپس آئے تو ان کی بیوی نے کہا: تم اپنے مہمانوں یا مہمان کو چھوڑ کر کہاں اٹک گئے تھے؟ وہ بولے: کیا تم نے انہیں کھانا نہیں کھلایا؟ انہوں نے بتایا کہ آپ کے آنے تک مہمانوں نے کھانا کھانے سے انکار کر دیا تھا۔ کھانا پیش کیا گیا لیکن وہ نہ مانے۔ عبدالرحمٰن کہتے ہیں: میں تو (مارے خوف کے) کہیں چھپ گیا۔ حضرت ابوبکر ؓ نے کہا: اے غنثر! آپ نے بہت سخت سست کہا اور خوب کوسا، پھر مہمانوں سے گویا ہوئے: کھاؤ تمہیں خوشگوار نہ ہو، اور کہا: اللہ کی قسم! میں ہرگز نہ کھاؤں گا۔ (عبدالرحمٰن ؓ کہتے ہیں:) اللہ کی قسم! ہم جب لقمہ لیتے تو نیچے سے زیادہ بڑھ جاتا تاآنکہ سب مہمان سیر ہو گئے اور جس قدر کھانا پہلے تھا اس سے کہیں زیادہ بچ گیا۔ حضرت ابوبکر صدیق ؓ نے جب کھانا دیکھا کہ وہ ویسے ہی بلکہ اس سے بھی زیادہ ہے تو انہوں نے اپنی اہلیہ سے فرمایا: اے قبیلہ بنو فراس کی بہن! یہ کیا ماجرا ہے؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا: اے میری آنکھوں کی ٹھنڈک! یہ کھانا اس وقت پہلے سے تین گنا ہے بلکہ اس سے بھی زیادہ۔ پھر اس میں سے حضرت ابوبکر ؓ نے کچھ تناول فرمایا اور کہا کہ ان کی یہ قسم شیطان ہی کی طرف سے تھی۔ پھر ایک لقمہ اس سے (مزید) کھایا اور باقی ماندہ کھانا نبی ﷺ کے پاس اٹھا کر لے گئے اور وہ صبح تک آپ کے پاس پڑا رہا۔ (عبدالرحمٰن ؓ نے کہا:) ہمارے اور ایک گروہ کے درمیان کچھ عہد تھا جس کی مدت گزر چکی تھی تو ہم نے بارہ آدمی علیحدہ کر دیے۔ ان میں سے ہر ایک کے ساتھ کچھ آدمی تھے۔ یہ تو اللہ ہی جانتا ہے کہ ہر شخص کے ساتھ کتنے آدمی تھے۔ ان سب نے اس میں سے کھانا، یا جیسے عبدالرحمٰن ؓ نے کہا۔
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abu Bakr (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne farmaya: Ashab-e-Suffa nadar log thay. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne (un ke mutaliq) farmaya tha: ''Jis ke paas do admiyon ka khana hai, wo teesra aadmi sath le jaye aur agar char ka ho to panchwan ya chattha (un mein se le jaye).'' Chunancha Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (Radi Allahu Anhu) apne sath teen aadmi le kar gaye aur khud Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne apne hamrah das admiyon ko liya. Hazrat Abdur Rahman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne kaha ke ghar mein is waqt mein aur mere waldain thay. Rawi kehta hai ke mujhe yaad nahi ke aap ne yeh kaha ya nahi ke ghar mein meri ahliya aur khadim bhi tha jo mere aur mere walid-e-garami ke ghar mein mushtar-ka taur par kaam karta tha. Al-gharaz Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke haan raat ka khana kha liya aur thori der ke liye wahan thehar gaye, phir isha ki namaz parh li gayi, laut kar phir thori der thehre, yahan tak ke Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne raat ka khana tanawul farmaya. Is ke baad aap kafi raat gaye apne ghar wapas aaye to un ki biwi ne kaha: Tum apne mehmanon ya mehman ko chor kar kahan atak gaye thay? Wo bole: Kya tum ne unhein khana nahi khilaya? Unhon ne bataya ke aap ke aane tak mehmanon ne khana khane se inkar kar diya tha. Khana pesh kiya gaya lekin wo na mane. Abdur Rahman kehte hain: Mein to (maaray khauf ke) kahin chup gaya. Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne kaha: Ay ghunthar! Aap ne bahut sakht sust kaha aur khoob kosa, phir mehmanon se goya hue: Khaao tumhein khushgawar na ho, aur kaha: Allah ki qasam! Mein hargiz na khaon ga. (Abdur Rahman (Radi Allahu Anhu) kehte hain:) Allah ki qasam! Hum jab luqma letay to neeche se zyada barh jata ta-aanka sab mehman sair ho gaye aur jis qadar khana pehle tha is se kahin zyada bach gaya. Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne jab khana dekha ke wo waise hi balke is se bhi zyada hai to unhon ne apni ahliya se farmaya: Ay qabeela Banu Faras ki behen! yeh kya majra hai? Unhon ne arz kiya: Ay meri ankhon ki thandak! yeh khana is waqt pehle se teen guna hai balke is se bhi zyada. Phir is mein se Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne kuch tanawul farmaya aur kaha ke un ki yeh qasam shaitan hi ki taraf se thi. Phir ek luqma is se (mazeed) khaya aur baqiya manda khana Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke paas utha kar le gaye aur wo subah tak aap ke paas para raha. (Abdur Rahman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne kaha:) Hamare aur ek giroh ke darmiyan kuch ahd tha jis ki muddat guzar chuki thi to hum ne barah aadmi alaihda kar diye. In mein se har ek ke sath kuch aadmi thay. Yeh to Allah hi jaanta hai ke har shakhs ke sath kitne aadmi thay. In sab ne is mein se khana, ya jaise Abdur Rahman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne kaha.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ الصُّفَّةِ كَانُوا أُنَاسًا فُقَرَاءَ ، وَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : مَنْ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ طَعَامُ اثْنَيْنِ فَلْيَذْهَبْ بِثَالِثٍ ، وَإِنْ أَرْبَعٌ فَخَامِسٌ أَوْ سَادِسٌ ، وَأَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ جَاءَ بِثَلَاثَةٍ ، فَانْطَلَقَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَشَرَةٍ ، قَالَ : فَهُوَ أَنَا وَأَبِي وَأُمِّي ، فَلَا أَدْرِي ، قَالَ : وَامْرَأَتِي وَخَادِمٌ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ بَيْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَإِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ تَعَشَّى عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ لَبِثَ حَيْثُ صُلِّيَتِ الْعِشَاءُ ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَلَبِثَ حَتَّى تَعَشَّى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَاءَ بَعْدَ مَا مَضَى مِنَ اللَّيْلِ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ، قَالَتْ لَهُ امْرَأَتُهُ : وَمَا حَبَسَكَ عَنْ أَضْيَافِكَ أَوْ قَالَتْ ضَيْفِكَ ، قَالَ : أَوَمَا عَشَّيْتِيهِمْ ، قَالَتْ : أَبَوْا حَتَّى تَجِيءَ ، قَدْ عُرِضُوا فَأَبَوْا ، قَالَ : فَذَهَبْتُ أَنَا فَاخْتَبَأْتُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا غُنْثَرُ ، فَجَدَّعَ وَسَبَّ ، وَقَالَ كُلُوا لَا هَنِيئًا ، فَقَالَ : وَاللَّهِ لَا أَطْعَمُهُ أَبَدًا وَايْمُ اللَّهِ مَا كُنَّا نَأْخُذُ مِنْ لُقْمَةٍ إِلَّا رَبَا مِنْ أَسْفَلِهَا أَكْثَرُ مِنْهَا ، قَالَ : يَعْنِي حَتَّى شَبِعُوا وَصَارَتْ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا كَانَتْ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَإِذَا هِيَ كَمَا هِيَ أَوْ أَكْثَرُ مِنْهَا ، فَقَالَ لِامْرَأَتِهِ : يَا أُخْتَ بَنِي فِرَاسٍ ، مَا هَذَا ؟ قَالَتْ : لَا وَقُرَّةِ عَيْنِي ، لَهِيَ الْآنَ أَكْثَرُ مِنْهَا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ بِثَلَاثِ مَرَّاتٍ ، فَأَكَلَ مِنْهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَقَالَ : إِنَّمَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ يَعْنِي يَمِينَهُ ، ثُمَّ أَكَلَ مِنْهَا لُقْمَةً ، ثُمَّ حَمَلَهَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَصْبَحَتْ عِنْدَهُ ، وَكَانَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمٍ عَقْدٌ فَمَضَى الْأَجَلُ فَفَرَّقَنَا اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَجُلًا مَعَ كُلِّ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ أُنَاسٌ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ كَمْ مَعَ كُلِّ رَجُلٍ ، فَأَكَلُوا مِنْهَا أَجْمَعُونَ أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ .
