Chapter on performing tayammum once

باب التيمم مرة

Sunan al-Darimi 768

It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say regarding Tayammum, "Striking the hands on the ground once is sufficient for the face and hands." Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Its chain of narration is Sahih (authentic)." This means to strike the hands on the ground once and then wipe the face and hands with them.

سیدنا عمار بن یاسر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ تیمّم کے بارے میں فرماتے تھے کہ ”چہرے اور ہاتھوں کے لئے ایک بار زمین پر ہاتھ مارنا کافی ہے۔“ امام دارمی رحمہ اللہ نے کہا: اس کی سند صحیح ہے۔ یعنی ایک بار زمین پر ہاتھ مار کر چہرے اور ہاتھوں پر مل لیں۔

Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Tayammum ke bare mein farmate the ki "chehre aur hathon ke liye ek baar zameen par hath marna kafi hai" Imam Darmi Rahmatullah Alaih ne kaha is ki sanad sahih hai yani ek baar zameen par hath maar kar chehre aur hathon par mal lein

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْعَطَّارُ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ عَزْرَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي التَّيَمُّمِ: "ضَرْبَةٌ لِلْوَجْهِ وَالْكَفَّيْنِ"، قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ: صَحَّ إِسْنَادُهُ.

Sunan al-Darimi 769

It is narrated on the authority of Umm al-Mu'minin, Sayyidah Aisha radiyallahu anha, that she borrowed a necklace from Sayyidah Asma radiyallahu anha. The necklace got lost, so the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam sent a few of his companions (رضي الله تعالى عنه)m to search for it. The time for prayer came, and they could not find water, so they prayed without ablution. When they returned to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, they told him about this matter. At that time, the verses of Tayammum were revealed. So, Sayyiduna Usayd ibn Hudayr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said: "May Allah grant you a good reward. By Allah, whenever a calamity befell you, Allah turned it away from you and made it a source of blessing for the Muslims."

ام المومنین سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے سیدہ اسماء رضی اللہ عنہا سے ایک ہار مانگ کر لیا وہ گم ہو گیا، تو رسول اللہ ﷺ نے اپنے اصحاب رضی اللہ عنہم میں سے چند لوگوں کو اس کو ڈھونڈنے کے لئے بھیجا، وہاں نماز کا وقت آ گیا اور پانی نہ ملا تو ان لوگوں نے بے وضو نماز پڑھ لی، جب وہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پاس لوٹ کر آئے تو یہ معاملہ بیان کیا، اسی وقت تیمّم کی آیت نازل ہوئی تو سیدنا اسید بن حضیر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: آپ کو الله تعالیٰ اچھا بدلہ دے، اللہ کی قسم جب بھی کوئی آفت آپ پر آئی تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے اس کو ٹال دیا، اور اس کو مسلمانوں کے لئے باعث برکت بنا دیا۔

Umm ul Momineen Sayyida Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se riwayat hai ki unhon ne Sayyida Asma ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se aik haar mang kar le liya woh gum ho gaya, to Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apne ashaab (رضي الله تعالى عنه) mein se chand logon ko us ko dhundne ke liye bheja, wahan namaz ka waqt aa gaya aur pani nah mila to un logon ne be wazu namaz parh li, jab woh Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pass laut kar aaye to yeh mamla bayan kiya, isi waqt Tayammum ki ayat nazil hui to Sayyiduna Sayyiduna Usaid bin Hudair (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne kaha: Aap ko Allah Ta'ala achha badla deta hai, Allah ki qasam jab bhi koi aafat aap par aai to Allah Ta'ala ne us ko taal diya, aur us ko musalmanon ke liye baais barkat bana diya.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، أَنَّهَا "اسْتَعَارَتْ قِلَادَةً مِنْ أَسْمَاءَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا فَهَلَكَتْ، فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَاسًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فِي طَلَبِهَا، فَأَدْرَكَتْهُمْ الصَّلَاةُ، فَصَلَّوْا مِنْ غَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ، فَلَمَّا أَتَوْا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَكَوْا ذَلِكَ إِلَيْهِ، فَنَزَلَتْ آيَةُ التَّيَمُّمِ"، فَقَالَ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ: جَزَاكِ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا، فَوَاللَّهِ مَا نَزَلَ بِكِ أَمْرٌ قَطُّ، إِلَّا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكِ مِنْهُ مَخْرَجًا، وَجَعَلَ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ فِيهِ بَرَكَةً.
