Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when a man came with a piece of gold the size of an egg, which he had found in some battle. Ahmad (bin Khalid) said that it was from a gold mine, and this is correct. The man said: "O Messenger of Allah! Take it, this is my charity, and by Allah, I have no other wealth but this." Hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned his face away from him. Then the man came to your left side and said the same, then he came in front of you and said the same. So you said angrily: “Bring it!”. Then you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) threw that gold away, which if it had hit someone, would have either injured him or struck him hard. Then you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "One of you comes with all his wealth, and he has nothing else but this wealth, then he gives it in charity, then sits and spreads his hands in front of the people. Real charity is that whose owner remains wealthy even after giving charity. Go, take your wealth, we do not need it.” So the man picked up that egg-sized gold and left. Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) used to say: When a person gives charity from his wealth to the needy, then he should give one-third of his wealth in charity.
سیدنا جابر بن عبدالله رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا کہ ہم رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پاس بیٹھے تھے کہ ایک آدمی انڈے کے برابر سونا لے کر آیا جو اسے کسی غزوے میں ملا تھا۔ اور احمد (بن خالد) نے کہا کہ کسی سونے کی کان سے حاصل ہوا تھا اور یہ ہی صحیح ہے۔ اس شخص نے کہا: اے اللہ کے رسول! اسے لے لیجئے، یہ میری طرف سے صدقہ ہے اور اللہ کی قسم اس کے علاوہ میرے پاس اور کوئی مال نہیں ہے، یہ سن کر رسول اللہ ﷺ نے اس کی طرف سے منہ پھیر لیا، پھر وہ شخص آپ ﷺ کے بائیں طرف سے آیا اور یہی عرض کیا، پھر وہ آپ ﷺ کے سامنے سے آیا اور یہی عرض کیا تو آپ نے ناراض ہوتے ہوئے کہا: ”لاؤ“، پھر اس سونے کو آپ ﷺ نے دور پھینک دیا جو اگر کسی کے لگ جاتا تو یا تو اسے زخمی کر دیتا یا اچھی ضرب لگا دیتا، پھر آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”تم میں سے کوئی اپنا سارا مال لے کر چلا آتا ہے اور اس کے پاس اس مال کے علاوہ اور کچھ نہیں ہوتا، پھر وہ اس مال کو صدقہ کر دیتا ہے، پھر بیٹھ کر لوگوں کے سامنے ہاتھ پھیلاتا ہے، اصلی صدقہ وہ ہے جس کا مالک صدقہ دینے کے بعد بھی مالدار رہے، چلو اپنا مال لے جاؤ، ہمیں اس کی ضرورت نہیں“، چنانچہ اس شخص نے وہ انڈے کے برابر سونا اٹھایا اور چلا گیا۔ امام دارمی رحمہ اللہ نے فرمایا: امام مالک رحمۃ اللہ علیہ فرمایا کرتے تھے: جب کوئی آدمی اپنا مال مساکین پر صدقہ کرے تو اپنے مال کا ایک تہائی حصہ صدقہ کرے۔
Sayyidna Jabir bin Abdullah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne kaha ki hum Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pass baithe the ki ek aadmi ande ke barabar sona lekar aaya jo usse kisi gazve mein mila tha. Aur Ahmed (bin Khalid) ne kaha ki kisi sone ki khan se hasil hua tha aur ye hi sahi hai. Iss shakhs ne kaha: Aye Allah ke Rasul! Ise le lijiye, ye meri taraf se sadqah hai aur Allah ki qasam iss ke ilawa mere pass aur koi maal nahi hai, ye sunkar Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne uski taraf se minha phir liya, phir woh shakhs Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke bayen taraf se aaya aur yahi arz kiya, phir woh Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke samne se aaya aur yahi arz kiya to Aap ne naraz hote hue kaha: "Laao", phir uss sone ko Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne door phenk diya jo agar kisi ke lag jata to ya to usse zakhmi kar deta ya acchi zarb laga deta, phir Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Tum mein se koi apna sara maal lekar chala aata hai aur uske pass iss maal ke ilawa aur kuch nahi hota, phir woh iss maal ko sadqah kar deta hai, phir baith kar logon ke samne hath phelata hai, asli sadqah woh hai jiska malik sadqah dene ke baad bhi maldar rahe, chalo apna maal le jao, humein iski zaroorat nahi", chunanche uss shakhs ne woh ande ke barabar sona uthaya aur chala gaya. Imam Darmi Rahimahullah ne farmaya: Imam Malik Rahimahullah Alayh farmate the: Jab koi aadmi apna maal misakeen par sadqah kare to apne maal ka ek tihai hissa sadqah kare.
